Listening to these two visionary women—Brené Brown and Dr. Mary Claire Haver—on Brené’s latest podcast episode left me feeling both frustrated and hopeful. Frustrated because: 😡 How are we still facing such a significant gender gap in healthcare? 😡 Women like me struggle to find reliable, female-centered information on aging, instead of advice adapted from male-focused research. 😡 There’s still too much confusion around navigating perimenopause, a natural transition experienced by over half the population! Hopeful because: ☀️ Women like Brené Brown and Dr. Mary Claire Haver are amplifying women’s voices, driving change, and advancing research in women’s health. ☀️ Change IS underway—I believe that I am more knowledgeable about menopause than my mother’s generation. I see more open, informed conversations in the media shaping a more promising narrative for women. ☀️ I can continue to play a role in this change by expanding the career coaching I have been providing to women in perimenopause. My experience in this space the past couple of years has shown me how critical this type of support is to women (and employers), and I’m inspired to deepen this work. While I think the podcast is a great listen, if you're seeking comprehensive information to support yourself through menopause, I highly recommend following Dr. Haver on social media and checking out her latest book, The New Menopause. If you have your own trusted resources on this topic, feel free to share in the comments!

I started fasting in the last two years for many reasons, spiritual focus, health and longevity. Yes weight loss is an added bonus, but it should never be the end game. Weight training is so good for women as we become older. Take a listen to this podcast with Dr. Mindy Pelz - when you get a chance and share, next month is our month... "Dr Mary Claire Haver discusses the importance of education and empowerment for women during menopause. The conversation covers debunking myths about cognitive decline, embracing menopause as a period of strength, and making gradual lifestyle changes. This episode advocates for improved menopause education in medical training and better support for women's unique health needs as they age." https://lnkd.in/d33PZ-bx

My latest episode of the 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 podcast is devoted to women and their health. It's a great follow-up to our last podcast on women and their wealth, I hope you'll listen to both. In my book, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫, chapter 6 (or the Blue Belt chapter) is dedicated to a healthy mind in a healthy body. In this podcast, I chat with Marie-Josée Bourassa. She has dedicated her professional life as a nurse clinician to helping women, especially women in mid-life, lead a vibrant healthy life. In 2023, Marie-Josée decided to fulfill a dream and opened the Meno-Joie clinic in Montreal, to help women suffering through the transitions of their menopause. We covered a lot of ground in half an hour: ☛ How Marie Josée made the decision to open up a private clinic geared towards women's health in mid-life. [02:50] ☛ What is considered optimal health for women past 40. [04:22] ☛ An overview on when perimenopause begins and when it ends with the onset of menopause. [06:25] ☛ Whether women generally visit the clinic knowing what's not quite right or if they usually have to undergo an analysis to find out what the problem is. [09:25] ☛ How Marie Josée overcomes the hurdle of finding the right professionals to help her female clientele? [12:45] ☛ The importance to view the money needed for these kind of services as an investment in women's health. [16:46] ☛ An explanation on how women can go about accessing the services the Meno-Joie clinic offers. [19:50] I hope you'll listen to this episode on Spotify or Captivate and share it with your friends; women and men! BOOK RECOMMENDATION 🔎 Kaz Cooke is a guru for women’s health. She blends humor and research to guide her readers through every stage of life. For this book, she surveyed ~8,000 women on their experiences with the ups and downs of perimenopause and menopause. Kaz dives into the data, and consulted top experts in women’s health to bring current and practical advice on managing symptoms. This book is as informative as it is hilarious, has great real life quotes from real women, and it’s also accessible. In my opinion it's quite neurodivergent-friendly with clear and explicit info, plus lots of visuals... BUT I would love to hear from you if you've read it so please share! Comment below if you have or plan to read it!! 🤗✨ ID: "it's the menopause" book sits on a table with flowers and a small clock in the background. #bookrecommendations #menopausesupport #neurofriendly #womensupportingwomen #womenshealth #menopauseawareness
