𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, 𝐆𝐮𝐣𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭 Amid the volatile price situation, Indian module makers are upbeat about the industry and rooftop is becoming an investing segment for PV. More and more module makers are churning out module products based on TOPCon technology, while a few cell makers have also begun the production of TOPCon cells, but mostly for captive usage. This was the observation from TaiyangNews - All About Solar team comprising Head of Technology, Shravan Kumar Chunduri, and Manager – Technology & Market Research, RAJARSHI SENGUPTA, at #IntersolarIndia in Gujarat. #InterSolarIndia2024 #SolarPV #Solar

At its #global production hub located in Cheyyar, Schwing Stetter India, a prominent #manufacturer of construction and concreting equipment, has completed the installation of a 1MW solar power system. V.G. Sakthikumar, the Chairman & Managing Director of Schwing Stetter India, presided over the facility's opening. The company's constant dedication to environmental #sustainability is demonstrated by this decision to include #solarenergy. The #facility is now ready to make the short-term shift to carbon neutrality with the installation of the #solar power system. With its ability to produce 14 lakh kWh of electricity a year, the system can essentially cover 20% of the facility's yearly power needs. Reputable for its capacity to create 14,000 machines a year, Schwing's Global Manufacturing Hub is evidence of the company's commitment to sustainable methods. The #goals of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) to double the nation's yearly solar capacity by 2026 are likewise in line with this plan. Stay tuned for daily insights in the manufacturing industry. BESS capital cost has plunged to $150/kWh (Rs 2.5 Cr/MW) in India !! India has witnessed a remarkable plunge in battery storage prices since 2021. The latest SECI solar + storage auction results are a testament to this trend, with prices hitting a low of Rs 3.41/kWh.
The key question is what BESS capital cost makes these prices possible ? Here is an attempt to estimate battery storage capex in India for the last 3 years: 2021 (SECI): Standalone storage at $450/kWh (Rs 7.5 Cr/MW). 2024 (GUVNL): Standalone storage at $200/kWh (Rs 3.2 Cr/MW). 2024 (SECI): Co-located storage at $150/kWh (Rs 2.5 Cr/MW). In just three years, the BESS capital cost has plummeted by nearly 70%. Indian developers are accessing battery packs at $80-100/kWh, aligning with global market trends. LFP pack prices in China have fallen to $60-70/kWh. With declining material costs and global manufacturing overcapacity, we anticipate battery pack prices to drop further, potentially reaching $50-60/kWh by 2030, implying a BESS capital cost of $100-120/kWh. We are entering a new era of power sector planning, necessitating a fresh look at all our least-cost resource assessments for meeting the growing electricity demand. #EnergyStorage #RenewableEnergy #PowerSector #BatteryRevolution Amol Phadke Jai Prakash Shivahare, IAS Umed Paliwal Neelima Jain Shruti Mahajan Deorah Ashwin Gambhir. Utility scale BESS cost continues to fall. This will be game changing. Investment will flow to the lowest risk, best return assets; PV, onshore wind and BESS using (mostly) existing transmission infrastructure. The simplest (and now) lowest cost solution is probably the best!
