I'm thrilled to announce the release of my latest book, made possible by the incredible team at Grift Education and the guidance of Gavin Grift. This book reflects my journey working with school leaders and collaborative teams on developing a Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum, a project that has been a true labor of love and learning. Through my experiences spanning various contexts and many years, I've witnessed the challenges teams face in defining the essential content to be taught across subjects and year levels. "Ready, Set, Teach" delves into these challenges head-on, offering practical solutions to ensure teams navigate the process successfully to enhance student achievement. I intentionally use the term 'a learning-ready curriculum' to emphasise the proactive nature of the process, steering away from the hesitancy often associated with the term 'guarantee.' This approach aims to clarify expectations, prioritise key concepts, and design effective learning pathways, ultimately creating a curriculum that is ready for learning. Educators are worried about cheating, especially now with #artificialintelligence tools widely available. It raises serious questions like: • What does it mean to teach and learn?  • How can I spend less time policing students and more time teaching? • How can we assess students in ways that are meaningful and equitable? What do letter grades actually tell us when it comes to explaining student achievement? Not much, it turns out. And with grade inflation becoming–ahem–an increasing concern, colleges and universities are looking for alternative ways to determine student success and identify their strengths in ways that are more nuanced,contextual, and three dimensional. Now, with parents and administrators putting more pressure on educators to explain their grading decisions, teachers and professors need new ways to provide transparency around our #assessment strategies. Working on a final read through and edit before I send this new book out to colleagues to review and to my publisher Amba Press to scrutinise and edit.
