Recently, Prime Minister Modi ji addressed the critical issue of digital arrest scams in his Mann Ki baat episode, emphasizing the importance of being vigilant. His message couldn’t be more timely, given the alarming rise in these scams. Digital arrest scams pose a dual threat - 1. They put victims at risk of significant financial loss 2. They also leave a lasting impact, often leading to mental distress or trauma. Recently, one of my acquaintances, a technology veteran, was victim of this scam, leading to major financial loss. Its true that people from all classes / age groups can fall victim to these cybercrimes. Additionally , prime minister rightly reiterated that no investigative agency inquires like this through a phone call or a video call. There is no system like digital arrest in the law. Its important that this message gets to everyone as part of awareness. #digitalarrest #cyberfraud #cyberawareness #cybercrime.

They may impersonate your boss asking for sensitive info or a relative claiming to need emergency funds. Some red flags that a call may be a voice clone scam: - Sense of urgency and pressure to act immediately - Requests for money, bank details, passwords, etc. - Vague on details if you ask follow-up questions - Won't video chat or meet in person to verify identity If you suspect a scam voice clone, call: 1.
