Fog could be described as mysterious and sometimes eerie, yet to me it delivers a strong sense of calmness and serenity, a hidden beauty of nature, that covers itself with the fog like a shy nymph, gradually releals to us it's secrets. The fog is so ephemeral and doesn't seem like it has any significant effect on the environment, yet it changes the way all animals, including people feel and interact with this space. What does a foggy evening makes you feel like doing? #ArchitecturalVisualization #ModernArchitecture #ScenicDesign #LakesideLiving #cgi

Nature is fun to consider through the lens of frame rates. What is a glacier if not a waterfall moving at 1 frame per year? What are the whales and dolphins if not birds slowed and pitched down to subaqueous harmonies? . . . #documentaryfilm #soundsofnature #nature #sounddesign

Color and reflection of materials is an important factor in low light levels and in the dark. White facades, white gravel paths in the forest and vegetation in light colors in the Anholt dessert make it possible to navigate when the eye has become accustomed to the dark and you move in nature in the dark hours. As part of the research project ‘Living with Darkness’ I performed walking interviews on the island of Anholt. With the help of my test participants I learned how to navigate in the dark by assessing the transition between a light and a dark surface in very low light levels in the specific context and special nature on Anholt. #LivingwithDarkness #COWIfonden #LightingDesignLabAAU #DarkSkyAnholt

Today's haiku by Alexis Davis Millar celebrates the patterns created by trees in shade. Those patterns can be useful. 🌿 Examining leaf arrangement can be a powerful tool for identifying tree species. Here's how it works: Alternate, Opposite, or Whorled: Take note of how leaves are positioned along the stem. Are they arranged alternately, in pairs opposite each other, or in circular clusters? Shape Matters: Explore the diverse world of leaf shapes – from ovate to lanceolate, each species boasts its unique silhouette, contributing to its identity. Venation Revelations: Vein patterns in leaves can offer valuable clues. Are they parallel, branching from a central midrib, or radiating like spokes from a central point? By understanding these leaf arrangement nuances, you can embark on a leafy adventure, unraveling the mysteries of trees right in your backyard! 🌳🔍 #TreeIdentification #LeafPatterns #TreeFacts #WeneedTrees #SaveOurShade 🌿✨

Wallace Line The Wallace Line is a significant biogeographical boundary that separates the ecozones of Asia and Australia. The Wallace Line is crucial for understanding how environmental factors shape biodiversity. It highlights the impact of geographical isolation on species evolution, making it a key concept in the study of biogeography and evolutionary biology. Key Points about the Wallace Line: - Location: It runs between Bali and Lombok in Indonesia, extending northward between Borneo and Sulawesi, and includes other islands in the region. - Ecological Significance: The line marks a noticeable difference in species composition and biodiversity. To the west of the line, you'll find Asian species, while to the east, Australian fauna and flora dominate. - Species Distribution: Many species, including mammals, birds, and reptiles, exhibit a clear divide along this line, with distinct species found on either side. - Historical Context: The existence of the Wallace Line supports theories of continental drift and plate tectonics, illustrating how geographical barriers can influence the evolution and distribution of species.

Creating spaces where nature can thrive should not be an ecological movement. It should be the basis of our existence. As humans, we are responsible for living for nature the same way it lives for us. In the process of nurturing the natural world, we will nurture ourselves. When we honor the natural world - the soil, the trees, the rivers, and the diverse forms of life, we will cultivate a civilization that respects nature. We must move beyond seeing nature as a resource to be exploited and embrace it as a living, breathing entity that sustains us. Our actions, choices, and way of being must reflect this sacred relationship. BIOTONOMY #biotonomy #naturebasedsolutions #nature #puertorico
