White facades, white gravel paths in the forest and vegetation in light colors in the Anholt dessert make it possible to navigate when the eye has become accustomed to the dark and you move in nature in the dark hours.
As part of the research project ‘Living with Darkness’ I performed walking interviews on the island of Anholt. With the help of my test participants I learned how to navigate in the dark by assessing the transition between a light and a dark surface in very low light levels in the specific context and special nature on Anholt.
