Broadcom's acquisition of VMware is causing a lot of headaches for a lot of people, with concerns about price increases, licensing changes, and vendor lock-in among them. As much as this hurts my heart due to my decade plus personal investment, it's something I run into more and more. Broadcom has changed the VMware culture, pricing, and more importantly the "feel" of the environment. If VMware is no longer for you, or you want to discuss options, please reach out. "Hi Brian, We are facing some issues relating to the fact that Broadcom has taken over VMware which may end up with us needing to go in a different direction. Can we please setup a meeting to discuss options that might work for us. Specifically, I think we are going to have to move away from VMware and most likely back to Hyper-V. However, we are open to any and all suggestions you might have."

It's a horror show out there if you're facing a VMware renewal since the Broadcom acquisition. We are seeing as-is renewals quoted at 6x-10x baseline spend, and a remarkable degree of indifference by Broadcom to the push back from their customers. The resultant impact on IT budgets is driving increased scrutiny on all IT spend in an effort to offset this price-taking. And, not surprisingly, clients are pursuing shorter term renewals and looking to alternative solution providers in an effort to find relief over time. Sound familiar? Let's talk.
