With the capacity of floating wind projects in the pipeline expected to be 244GW globally, it's clear that the sector will be a major contribution to the future energy mix. In fact, 10% of this pipeline could be generated by floating wind turbines in Scotland - with 24.5GW from projects planned in the ScotWind and the Innovation and Targeted Oil & Gas (INTOG) leasing rounds. While a scale-up over the next couple of decades will require solutions to multiple challenges in a relatively short time, this also presents many opportunities, and Scotland already has a head start. We're home to the world’s first commercial scale floating wind farm, and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult's Floating Wind Innovation Centre (FLOWIC) in Aberdeen (a UK first). A Strategic Investment Model is encouraging investment and the UK Government’s Floating Offshore Wind Manufacturing Investment Scheme (FLOWMIS) is supporting critical infrastructure and ports 🏗⛴️ In its latest article, GlobalData Energy explores the many factors that are coming together as part of a clear strategy to establish Scotland as a leading global destination for floating wind energy 💪🏼 ➡️ https://ow.ly/N4Se50TolSP And if you're attending #ADIPEC this week, you can find out more about floating wind opportunities in Scotland on the Scotland Pavilion in Hall 8, Stand 8450 📍🏴 #ScotlandIsNow #FloatingWind

In a recent development in the offshore wind sector, Archer Wind has made a strategic decision to order TP-Products AS' bolted connectors for use in TotalEnergies’ pilot floating wind project. This innovative connection technology is set to bolster the robustness and efficiency of floating wind foundations, aligning perfectly with the industry's push towards sustainable energy solutions. You can read more about it here: (https://lnkd.in/eXJrCWzp). This partnership highlights the growing trend of integrating advanced technologies to enhance the performance of offshore wind installations. Floating wind farms represent a significant opportunity to harness wind energy in deeper waters, where traditional fixed structures are not feasible. As we embrace these advancements, it’s crucial to consider how collaborative efforts within the industry can propel us towards achieving net-zero emissions. 🌍 As professionals in the offshore wind arena, it is essential for us to engage in discussions about the potential impacts of such technologies on project timelines, costs, and overall energy production. Have you come across any groundbreaking technologies in offshore wind that you believe could shape the future of renewable energy? Let's share insights and learn from each other. 💬 #OffshoreWind #RenewableEnergy #FloatingWind #Sustainability #Innovation #Collaboration #NetZero #CleanEnergy #WindEnergy

It's the final day of UK Wind Energy Week and for today's theme of 'innovation', we're shining a spotlight on our Gwynt Glas floating offshore wind farm project. Gwynt Glas is a joint venture between EDF Renewables UK, ESB and Reventus Power – supported by DP Energy Group's Pembrokeshire based team, for their local knowledge and expertise – which could power up to one million homes with clean energy. What makes Gwynt Glas so innovative is that it will be built using floating offshore wind technology, which means the wind farm can be built in deeper waters than traditional offshore wind farms. We're hugely excited by the potential this technology offers to acclerate the UK's path to net zero and bring investment, jobs and skills into the Celtic Sea region. Europe’s First Commercial-Scale Floating Offshore Wind Farm Secures All Planning Approvals Flotation Energy and Vårgrønn, a joint venture between Plenitude (Eni) and HitecVision, have obtained the offshore planning approval for the Green Volt floating wind farm offshore Scotland. With onshore consent announced earlier this month, Green Volt has now received all its planning approvals and remains on track to be the first commercial-scale floating offshore wind farm in Europe. When completed, Green Volt will include up to 35 floating wind turbines, providing up to 560 MW of renewable energy capacity. As part of Crown Estate Scotland’s Innovation and Targeted Oil & Gas (INTOG) leasing round, the project will deliver renewable electricity to oil and gas platforms, replacing existing natural gas and diesel power generation. Green Volt will also provide electricity to the UK grid. Green Volt, 50 per cent owned by Flotation Energy and 50 percent by Vårgrønn, is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 1 million tonnes per annum. #offshore #floatingoffshore #socsea24 #maritimeconnection https://lnkd.in/ezrtN8gQ

A consortium between Elicio and BayWa r.e. EMEA has won the AO5 tender in France to develop and operate the country’s first floating offshore wind farm, the 250 MW Pennavel project, off the south coast of Brittany. The offer proposed by the consortium amounted to EUR 86.45 per MWh and was selected following the examination of all projects by the Commission for Regulation of Energy (CRE). Earlier this month, France kicked off a tender for four offshore wind projects, totaling 2.5 GW in capacity, while also disclosing ambitions to pursue an additional 10 GW later this year. #OffshoreWind #WindEnergy #FranceRenewables https://lnkd.in/dWv_tNF8
