We believe that the Baltic region is very attractive for startups in the early stages of development, since the burn rate is very low. This is especially important for startups with a long development and launch cycle, such as Life Science, Healthtech or drones. A few years ago, skeptics argued that startups from the Baltic region and Eastern Europe are not interesting. Statistics from @ Sifted suggest otherwise. Many startups from MENA countries, the Balkan region, from other regions are looking for a country to enter the markets of EU countries in order to access funding. We recommend considering the Baltic countries for relocation, and are ready to help startups in the Healthtech field relocate their projects and build a global company

Interesting report from Sifted. Just wondering why no Armenian startups are listed. Some potential explanations: a) the Armenian startup landscape is far behind the Baltic startup scene in terms of funding and revenue generation, b) Armenian startups didn't want to disclose their financial numbers (then why companies in the Baltics are doing that?), c) Armenian startups are not registered in Armenia and thus are not considered in this report. What's your take on the stats?

It's easy to look at the data and think last year was a bad year for startups. The number of early-stage deals was down by about a third, and so was the amount of money invested in those deals. But if you take a longer view, the number of deals and the amount of funding were still higher than in 2020 or any year prior. And at the end of 2023, there was an uptick in deals, which is another positive trend. Overall, the market is moving up and to the right, and we at York IE are cautiously optimistic that will continue. There's no denying that things are different, though. In particular, the time between Seed and Series A has increased significantly. That's why we're working closely with founders on pragmatic growth and capital strategies.
