I know that, unfortunately, there isn't standardisation across bid roles, but would I be correct in saying an expected hierarchy would look something like: Bid Manager Bid Writer Bid Coordinator I get that these are three different roles, but I am finding that bid writer and, increasingly, bid coordinator are being used to describe any and all bid roles. #bidjobs #bidwriting #apmp

So, you want to be a proposal manager… I’ve been in the proposal profession for more than 20 years now, and I have one question for you: WHY? Proposal management is one of the most maddening, frustrating, challenging, and rewarding careers you could choose. Many proposal managers would tell you that the challenging and rewarding aspects outweigh the maddening and frustrating parts, especially when you win. What is a proposal manager? If you attended MAC 2024 and my session, you heard me describe a proposal manager as the conductor of the proposal orchestra. The various parts of the proposal orchestra include BD/capture, finance, contracts, subcontracts, recruiting, graphics, writers, etc. As a conductor, the proposal manager ensures all these elements come together harmoniously. Besides, "conductor" sounds much better than "herder of cats." A proposal manager is also a facilitator. We facilitate all manner of meetings—proposal tag-ups/stand-ups, color team reviews, and more. We ensure that all the “orchestra” parts work in harmony. Proposal manager responsibilities include: · Compliance · Overall proposal process · Proposal schedule · Timely delivery/submission of the proposal response This is not an exhaustive list by any means. What would you add? What are your thoughts on why be a proposal manager?

Bid Writer Top Tip 💡 Time is of the Essence ⏰ When planning or scheduling meetings for a tender response, it is essential to give yourself enough time to draft an accurate, requirements-centric response, with requisite time to health check, make final revisions and QA. For resourcing-based tenders or those requiring CVs, you will need to allow plenty of time to talk to candidates; you'll also need to allow time for old CVs to be updated, questions to be answered and final cross-checks to be completed. In addition, a certain amount of time will need to be set aside, either on the deadline date or the eve, to upload/submit documents, depending on the number (certificates, financial letters, diagrams, support documents, pricing indices, main response document etc.). Submission time alone can take anything up to two hours. Time needs to be allocated to reading the document(s), making notes on requirements, scheduling calls/meetings, writing up various drafts, proof-reading, editing, final QA and submission. Plan your time wisely. Going up to the wire and writing rushed last minute content will do you a disservice and put you under a level of stress you could probably do without. #bidspecialist #tenders #tenderwriting #publicsector #business #tech #recruitment #managedservices #construction
