New Olympic Sport Proposal: Gate Jumping, aka Connection Family Relay Families of 4 start on board a plane parked at "gate A" and must maneuver heavy airport pedestrian congestion to get to "gate B" (different part of airport) before the flight closes and the scornful agent says "we can't possibly re-open these doors (except for the next flight) because (explosive decompression?)." Higher DD (degree of difficulty): American Airlines runs routine flights between Charlotte and Wilmington, except that today one of two dedicated jets sits idle at gate 8, primed and ready for its tomorrow 7:30am flight, while the one you're tied to at gate 9 for a 6PM departure keeps moving its boarding time back by 10 minutes every 15 or so. (note: fresh new crew ready at airport, waiting too.) Your comfy two hour layover slowly turns into a mere 15 minutes to change planes. Can you make it to gate B on time? Can you convince the waiting agent that they should let you on the final leg of your flight because you literally ran as fast as you could from the previous.* (*with backpacks stuffed with spare overnight clothing because you're flying American Airlines.) Note: International Olympic version must include customs/immigration in the middle of the gate change. Results: Team Bar-Zeev scored a transit time of 8 minutes (new family record!) to board the 2nd flight; however TBD points deducted for 1 large suitcase missing from that second flight's cargo hold. Some people say that's unfair to count stuff out of our control, but those are the rules.

𝗔𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 All of the crews that set of on Wednesday headed south from the Canaries, rather than due west to their destination. This strategy allows them to take advantage of favourable currents rather than battling those that could push them too far north. In ocean rowing, the shortest route isn’t always the fastest. Friday brought some of the toughest conditions - genuinely grim weather, with decks soaked despite full waterproofs, cabins dripping from condensation, and the largest waves the team has ever faced - with a few near-capsizes, both terrifying and exhilarating. By Saturday, the conditions were rough but offered a new advantage - the team started “surfing” down the waves, using minimal effort to achieve high speeds. Their chosen route to go even more south than most helped them avoid the eye of a storm, enabling steady progress, whilst those caught in the eye have made little progress, some even losing distance they had already covered. The swell has been dramatic enough to lift the team out of their seats. All of the team are clipped into the boat so no risk of going overboard. The initial adrenaline has worn off, leaving the crew tired but focused. As of this morning, the team has covered 320 nautical miles—over 50 in the last 24 hours alone. 10% of the distance done! #worldstoughestrow #atlanticrow #sas #ai #oarsomearmyeducators

As far as I can tell, Murray Bridge News was the first outlet to report about new rules the Department for Infrastructure and Transport is proposing for boats and jet skis in South Australia.
