Today is World EV Day, one of biggest e-mobility campaigns of the year, focused on how we can all support the shift to a decarbonised society. One of the biggest barriers to EV adoption is still the lack of charging infrastructure. Today, the UK is one of the many countries still falling behind in its electrification journey, with just over 68,000 of the 300,000 public EV charge points needed by 2030. At Etc. at BT Group, we've been exploring how we can use existing BT Group assets to help speed up this journey. Earlier this year, we announced our plans to power up the first EV charging unit from a street cabinet traditionally used to store broadband and phone cabling, marking the first step in upgrading cabinets to help meet sustainability targets and decarbonise the UK transport system. We brought this promise to life installing our first charger in East Lothian Scotland with further pilots planned across the UK.
