Xpeng G6 body structure + front cradle +battery pack. Xpeng is the only OEM, besides Tesla, that uses megacasting for the front side rail. I wonder which design option is more economical: steel-stamped parts or one-piece aluminum HPDC. Basically, aluminum's material cost is higher than steel. Although aluminum allows for a more integrated design and provides better local stiffness, steel is more robust in terms of fracture behavior. Additionally, aluminum could generate more CO2 compared to steel during the ingot production proces.
