Meet the Wave: Our New Masterpiece of European Craftsmanship 🌊 The Wave is more than just a #bike; it’s an ode to #craftsmanship, #sustainability, and #collaboration. At Astonic, we’re deeply committed to #quality, and with the Wave, we’re setting a new standard. We build our bikes in collaboration with neighboring #companies, prioritizing #sustainable, replaceable #components sourced from #Europe wherever possible. Difficult? Absolutely. Almost impossible? Sometimes. But that challenge fuels us, driving us to keep going, stay #creative, and enjoy every step. We became #entrepreneurs because we thrive on #challenges, and the Wave is the result of that determination. With the Wave, we’re introducing an entirely new concept: a unique e-bike that’s proudly made in Europe. This bike features the revolutionary INTRADRIVE motor with 8 automatic gears and a frame with fully CNC-machined parts from Your CNC Solutions . And the #welding? Still done by hand using the TIG method—a true artisan touch. Are we a bit stubborn? Maybe. But we savor every step in this process. The Wave is fully #customizable: from tires (thicker or slightly slimmer) to wheel sizes (24 or 27 inches). And yes, we cater to your personal preferences: it comes with a standard suspension seat post, or if you prefer, a dropper. You name it, we’ll build it. For the finishing touches, we use Wilhelm Humpert GmbH & Co.KG components produced in Germany with a safety level 6, because #safety is paramount for us. Our dedication to this model is almost tangible, wouldn’t you agree? We can’t wait to share the Wave with the world. Come see it for yourself at the #B2B festival van NieuwsFiets Media & Events 2025. Are you ready? We sure are!

Overseas Market | New Standards Set for Cargo Bicycles in Europe Electric cargo bicycles have shown strong growth in the European market due to their excellent performance in last-mile delivery and passenger transportation. However, concerns about safety have emerged due to the unique characteristics of cargo capacity and usage scenarios. Recently, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) has been refining the EN 17860 series of standards for cargo bicycles, which was initiated in 2017. The EN 17860 series will cover different types of electric cargo bicycles, including single-track cargo bicycles (up to 300 kilograms), multi-track bicycles (up to 300 kilograms), heavy-duty cargo bicycles (up to 650 kilograms), and bicycle trailers with their own power drive. Furthermore, the EN 17860 series distinguishes between electric cargo bicycles for commercial and private use, and establishes different testing and evaluation methods accordingly. This differentiation aims to better meet the needs of different users and enhance the safety and reliability of products. #CargoBicycles #EuropeanMarket #EN17860Standards

Chain and belt drive systems are both mechanisms used in spinning bikes to transfer power from the pedals to the flywheel, but they have some key differences. Material: Chains are typically made of metal, usually steel, while belts are made of rubber or synthetic materials like polyurethane. Durability: Chains are generally more durable and long-lasting compared to belts, especially in high-intensity usage scenarios. Belts can wear out over time and may need replacement sooner. Maintenance: Chains require periodic lubrication and cleaning to maintain smooth operation and prevent rust. Belts are generally maintenance-free and don't require lubrication. Noise: Chains can produce more noise during operation, especially if they are not properly lubricated or if they become worn. Belts are usually quieter and provide a smoother, more silent ride. Smoothness: Belts offer a smoother and more consistent feel during pedaling compared to chains, which can sometimes have slight "jerking" sensations, especially if they are not properly tensioned. Cost: Chain-driven systems are often less expensive initially, but they may require more maintenance and replacement parts over time. Belt-driven systems may have a higher upfront cost but can save money in the long run due to reduced maintenance needs. #transmissionsystem #bike #spinningbike #cardio #stationarybike #chain #belt

Riding a Riese & Müller Load75 for 1,5 years (loving it!) and having multiple Gates' belt failures, the bike went back to RM für a service. It seems they did not find an underlying issue - so I will see how it goes. But, for each failure of the belt, my service provider had to contact United Transmission, the original supplier. For a part failing with me on average after 2500km, where there are reports of lasting for tens of thousands of kilometers? Actually, to be fair, there is no promise on how many kilometers it can last as a kind of minimum, but it seems it can last 20000km without a failure, just wear down. This brings me to the following: During the past 18mmonths, whenever there was "something", the service provider was asked to get in contact with the supplier of the part, instead of the maker of the bike. As a self-claimed premium bike maker (premium for the quality, I assume), I wonder how customers feel about this? Comparing to the automotive area, as cargo bikes and ebikes generally are supposed to replace, in cites for example, cars, I never heard, that the garage needs to contact the specific maker of the part. Having myself a background in #Totalcustomersatisfaction in the Medical Device/diagnostics industry, I wonder about the ebike manufacturer’s attitude? Why so? Why timely delays in back and forth communication with multiple parties? Maybe you, reading this as a potential/future customer, need also to question this practice, as you think, you are buying a product from a specific and trusting in its reputation and paying a premium for this, but run into this issue, when there is actually something going to fail. Any experience you had yourselves with bike makers across the field? Or am I wrong in my expectation? What do you expect from the bike maker? Different from the car you bought? Or machines you use for work? Feel free to share and comment. #riesemueller #RM #load75 #gatescarbondrive #unitedtransmission #cargobike #rohloff #bosch #ebike #internationalcargobikefestival #preiumcarmakers #premiumbikemakers

The intellectual property of Estonian cargo bike manufacturer Hagen Bikes has been acquired by the Estonian company Springdrive Ltd, which produces #electric bikes in #Hungary under the name Blurby Bike. Founded in 2014 by Taaniel Mägi and Kaspar Peek, Hagen Bikes manufactures both electric and non-electric cargo bikes. The non-electric bikes weigh start at 23.8 kg and have aerospace-grade chromoly frames. The cargo bikes can be used to carry children or groceries. The bikes are being produced and assembled in #Tallinn. Electric Hagen Bikes are equipped with batteries that provide an electric range of 70 km. A full charge will take 4,5 hours, and an 80% charge takes 2,5 hours. The bikes have #GPS tracking to notify the owner on his phone if someone moves the bike, while it is locked. Bicycles can be adjusted with the help of different frame sizes, so they can fit both smaller or taller people. Since the end of 2021, Hagen Bikes has been listed on the Baltic First North market. But in November 2023, it filed for bankruptcy, so it had to terminate trading its shares on the stock market. However, Springdrive has already restored the production of Hagen Bikes' box wheels, starting to manufacture them this year. Springdrive, founded in 2008 by Ivari Kull, is also the parent company of the online store of bicycle spare parts and accessories rattaproff.ee. Blurby e-bikes are manufactured in Budapest. The bike's battery is placed in the bottom tube of the frame. It weighs less than 15 kg and has a maintenance-free, lightweight belt drive. Motor assisted range is 60 km. #Estonia #tech #technology #technologies #TechnologyNews #TechNews #Deal #Deals #bicycle #electricbike

Looking forward to seeing where this consultation gets to. E-bikes are a game-changer for both personal use and logistics. Will (legally) increasing their power and enabling throttle use make a difference? I think so, but only if their use remains easy and attractive vs. other modes. https://lnkd.in/eZRKjvtv
