Tradition meets future: 165 years AWH ✨ - about courage, innovation, highs, lows and a strong team spirit ... The year is 1859 and a young master brass caster named Gottfried Riemann is working in a small workshop in Hötensleben. With skilled craftsmanship and a vision, he founds the "Armaturenfabrik und Metall-Gießerei". What began as a modest start quickly developed into a flourishing factory whose products soon became known beyond the borders of Germany. 📊 In the decades that followed, our company grew steadily. Each new generation brought a breath of fresh air and new ideas, but we always remained true to our roots. Our history is characterized by innovation and progress, but also by challenges and crises. Times when the future seemed uncertain, but thanks to our qualified specialists, their courage and their wealth of ideas, we always managed to emerge stronger. ⭐️ A highlight of our recent history was the launch of the AWH online shop in 2021, which now offers our customers over 20,000 items. We are equally proud of our international expansion, with representative offices in countries such as Belgium, the Netherlands, Romania and many more. 💙 However, our many years of experience and our success are not only based on facts and figures, but above all on the people who have shaped our company. 🏀 Just witnessed an epic showdown at Kufstein Arena, Austria where Pirlo Kufstein Towers secured a thrilling 79-67 victory against Raiffeisen Mattersburg Rocks! 🎉 🤝 Teamwork and coordination took center stage, not just on the basketball court but also in the challenges we navigate daily. I remember recently at FERCAM Austria, I was working on a custom clearance document with a long list of products and short time before the Trailer can cross UK-F border. The pressure was so much, drawing striking parallels to the game. 🤔 Much like the basketball match, moments of uncertainty and the fear of falling short are just behind you. Pressure and challenges helps us to learn the important concept which is staying focused. 🤝 Channeling the winning spirit of Pirlo, I leaned on the power of teamwork and enlisted the support of my incredible team at FERCAM Austria. With seamless coordination and each team member contributing their strengths, we turned the tide. The document was completed just in time, ensuring a smooth cross-border transition for the Trailer. 🌟 The lesson is crystal clear – whether on the court or in logistics at FERCAM Austria, teamwork and coordination are non-negotiable. Like many of us in the PSV sector, we tend to fall into the industry by accident and never seem to leave! This is certainly the case for our Commercial Manager, Daniel Lunn (MILT) (AMCIHT), and CEO, Sam Wharfe FRSA FCILT. What’s even more interesting is that it’s a similar story for Whippet's General Manager, Ed Cameron. During a visit to see Ed at his Cambridgeshire depot, we discussed career journeys and anecdotes about our interesting past lives. We also touched on wider topics beyond driver recruitment, including market issues that need to be considered for the future but affect today's policies and plans. After all, investing in the wrong technology could prove to be a real headache down the road. Vehicle investment is key to Whippet, but all decisions are calculated and well-considered. Electrification has been established in Ed’s garage for some time, but it’s brought its own set of challenges. However, as Ed explained, he’s managed to navigate these issues with a pragmatic approach. Ed isn’t shy about investing in the right areas. He explained his plan to streamline the business by reducing much of the paper-based processes, utilising a carefully selected network of key industry experts and suppliers. While Ed and his team at Whippet clearly embrace change, they recognise that none of their systems or vehicles are any good without reliable people to back them up. We’re behind you all the way, Ed.
