According to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), global semiconductor sales hit $56.9 billion during October 2024, an increase of 22.1% compared to the October 2023 total of $46.6 billion and 2.8% more than the September 2024 total of $55.3 billion. Additionally, a new WSTS industry forecast has been revised upward for 2024. It now projects annual global sales will increase 19.0% year-to-year, reaching a sales total of $626.9 billion this year. Global Semiconductor Sales Increase 23.2% in Q3 2024 compared to Q3 2023; Quarter-to-Quarter sales up 10.7%: WASHINGTON—Nov. 5, 2024—The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) today announced global semiconductor sales were $166.0 billion for the third quarter of 2024, an increase of 23.2% compared to the third quarter of 2023 and 10.7% more than the second quarter of 2024. Global sales were $55.3 billion during the month of September 2024, an increase of 4.1% compared to the August 2024 total of $53.1 billion. Monthly sales are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization and represent a three-month moving average. The latest data from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) shows that global semiconductor sales reached $166 billion in the third quarter of 2024, marking a 23.2% year-on-year increase and a 10.7% quarter-on-quarter growth, the highest quarterly growth rate since 2016. In September, global semiconductor sales amounted to $55.3 billion, a 4.1% increase compared to $53.1 billion in August.

Sales in June 2024 were $50.0 billion, an increase of 1.7% compared to the May 2024 total of $49.1 billion. Monthly sales are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization and represent a three-month moving average. Worldwide sales of semiconductors totaled $526.8 billion in 2023, down 8.2% from last year’s record of $574.1 billion, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). Despite the annual decline, semiconductor sales surged in the second half of the year. The SIA notes that sales in Q4’23 totaled $146.0 billion, representing an increase of 11.6% on a year-over-year basis from Q4’22. In 2023, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index posted a total return of 67.00%, compared to 57.84% for the S&P 500 Information Technology Index, and 26.26% for the S&P 500 Index, according to data from Bloomberg.

According to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), global semiconductor sales reached USD51.3 billion in July 2024, a significant increase of 18.7% compared to the previous year. This growth was driven by strong demand in the Americas, which saw a remarkable 40.1% increase in sales.

The global semiconductor industry sales hit $49.1 billion during the month of May 2024, an increase of 19.3% compared to the May 2023 total of $41.2 billion and an increase of 4.1% compared to the April 2024 total of $47.2 billion. The industry has shown growth every month of 2024, however, May shows the largest percentage growth since April 2022, according to WSTS.
