𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝘆𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗔 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗨.𝗦. 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 📊💼 With the rise of hybrid work, companies in the U.S. and Europe are rethinking how they measure performance. Traditionally, the U.S. emphasizes 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘀—task completion, targets, and response times—while Europe focuses on 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 and long-term outcomes. In Europe, remote work has sometimes weakened team cohesion, as spontaneous interactions and in-person collaboration decrease. However, many report improved individual productivity, as fewer office distractions allow deeper focus on tasks. In the U.S., remote work has made it easier to track individual performance digitally, but this focus can lead to isolation and burnout, with less emphasis on team synergy and creativity. The key question: Can we balance 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗽𝘂𝘁 and 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 in hybrid models? Neither region has found the perfect formula yet, but perhaps the best solution lies in adapting work to the needs of employees, fostering trust and flexibility. 🔹 How has your company adapted to hybrid performance measurement? Do you value individual or team success more? #HybridWork #Telework #Productivity #Teamwork #WorkLifeBalance

📢 PSA: It's time to ditch the 'watercooler' nostalgia. We're the problem - not remote work. Remote work gets blamed for everything these days, even the death of the 'watercooler chat.' But were those chance encounters the pinnacle of workplace connection, or just pleasantly distracting small talk? My hot take: The watercooler was never magic. You'd get up, maybe say something, maybe not 🤷♀️ Sure, it felt social, but it wasn't 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭. What did we REALLY lose that we actually crave? ✨ 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: No scheduling, no pressure. Just a quick "Hey, got a sec?" ✨ 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘃𝗶𝗯𝗲𝘀: Sensing your team's buzzing energy, even if you weren't collaborating directly. ✨ 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗶𝘁𝘆: Brainstorming out of nowhere, supporting a struggling colleague... that's the stuff of a connected team. We need to get real about what the watercooler symbolized and stop romanticizing a watercooler. This is where HR and leadership need to get innovative and proactive. How to step up: 👉 𝗕𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝘄𝗵𝘆": What does your team (and your business) miss most about the office dynamic? Don't rely on assumptions that everyone shares your view. 👉 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝗵𝗼𝘄": Dedicated Slack channels, virtual office hours, tools specifically designed for mimicking those unplanned encounters - the possibilities are out there. 👉 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸: Use the solutions you set up! Show your team these aren't just perks, they're how your culture connects. The watercooler was NEVER the solution - it was a romanticized symbol of connection we took for granted. Is the real problem that we expect someone else to fix this for us? 🤨 🤨 🤨 Sound off! What's working for your team to foster that 'watercooler' energy without the watercooler? 👇 #remotework #futureofwork #leadership #humanresources #peopleoperations

Remote work goes beyond our physical locations—it transforms our approach to work itself. Looking for strategies to foster a productive and engaged remote team? Look no more! 💻 Autonomy and Accountability: Equip teams with clear goals and the autonomy to achieve them. Trust in their self-management, as it fosters both independence and accountability. 💻 Balancing Acts: Advocate for clear work-life boundaries. Encourage practices that distinguish between "on" and "off" hours to safeguard against burnout. 💻 Communication is Key: Robust tools and regular, transparent check-ins keep everyone on the same page, ensuring no one feels isolated. 💻 Culture Continuity: Virtual team activities sustain company culture, ensuring remote work doesn't drain community spirit. Together, these strategies will support your teams both in (and outside of) the office. What strategies have been game changers for you? #RemoteWork #EmployeeEngagement #WorkLifeBalance #ChooseHR

Thanks CBC/Radio-Canada for including me in your discussion this morning on disconnection in the workplace. As you consider this topic in your own workplaces, don't get caught in the trap of equating the disconnection people are feeling in the workplace TO remote work. This is such a dangerous correlation. Disconnection is a FEELING people get when they don't FEEL connected. It has nothing to do with being in a physical space with people. It has everything to do with the culture you're building. When you choose to correlate the feeling of disconnection ➡️ to ➡️ remote work, you basically cut yourself off from building a work culture that allows you to: ✅ Draw the best talent from anywhere ✅ Offer flexible work/life balance ✅ Create more inclusive and diverse workplaces ✅ Re-train your brain from 'effort' to 'outcomes' ✅ Be a leader in the future of work and not get caught in old paradigms On the radio this morning, it was mentioned that building connection 'remotely' is just harder. But what if that just wasn't true? And what if every day you choose to keep believing that, is just another day you are further behind building creative solutions to overcome it? Don't get stuck here. I promise this is possible. And I am here to help. You can start with this SIMPLE 2-minute Connection Accelerator exercise that I've designed for this exact challenge. https://lnkd.in/gPE6TNEr The solutions are here. Don't miss them.
