VSAC wrapped, 2024 edition… Our Spotlights showcase how VSAC supports the journey of Vermont students and families. These stories inspire and connect us to our students, their barriers and successes, needs and aspirations. With each student and family, we find strength in their resilience, as we work to fulfill our mission to create education and job opportunities. We hope you enjoy—and find joy in—the stories of VSAC students and families, as much as we do. VTSU Johnson student discovers her career with VSAC’s help: Attending Community College of Vermont (CCV) tuition free via 802Opportunity provided a stepping-stone for Jess to graduate with a bachelor’s degree from VTSU and advance in her career supporting new parents. Rising above tragedy to earn a free college education: Mersadies' life turned upside down in just one night when she was 12 years old. Now, Mersadies’ positivity and hard work have earned her a college education and essential financial support for her plans to become a nurse. Amiya keeps her eye on the finish line: As a competitive runner, Amiya knows how to push herself to the finish line. Now a freshman pre-med student, she’s majoring in biochemistry “It’s a big goal,” she says with a smile, “but I feel like every step of the way gets me a little closer to that dream.” Aden teaches newly arrived people to drive thanks to VSAC funding: Earning your driver’s license is an American rite of passage, and a critical step for immigrants who come to the United States later in life. Aden puts his background to work with diverse groups whose cultural and linguistic needs are often overlooked in routine driver’s education. VTSU-Johnson grad helps her college town recover from flood: Kirsty, a first-generation college graduate, agrees that college changed her life. “But it wasn’t my psychology degree that was my biggest takeaway,” she says. “It was finding my passion for community and for helping others... College really turned my life around.” More: https://lnkd.in/epUuc3JP (Page 3) #2024wrapped

REMINDER: The Knowledge Co-Operative’s Summer 2024 #PSAT, #SATPrep and #ACTPrep Courses Begin Soon Standardized test preparation is what we do … and we do it better than anybody else. We have been doing this for a long time now, and we have helped lots and lots of kids get into some really great schools: MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Cal Tech, blah, blah, blah. We have also helped lots and lots of high school underachievers find hidden gems that have matched their academic needs and helped them to succeed in college and beyond, schools like Mercer, American, Penn State, Alabama and Texas Christian. Mostly though, we help students find schools that offer great programs in the students’ chosen fields as well as generous merit aid packages (need based aid is, sadly, a relic of the past – a victim of idiotic obsession with college rankings). Our summer courses are gearing up for 2024. The courses are comprehensive and effective. In fact, we have found that those students who begin test preparation in the summer substantially outperform those who wait until fall or, for Juniors, delay preparation until next spring. If you have any questions, feel free to call me us at 7863337909 or email Sean at seancharlesplynch@gmail.com #testprep #TestPreparation #collegebound #collegeprep #collegepreparation #collegeadvice #CollegeAdmissions #collegeadvising

In fact, we have found that those students who begin test preparation in the summer substantially outperform those who wait until fall or, for Juniors, delay preparation until next spring. In our courses, students will be taught the skills and techniques necessary to master all three components of the SAT and all four components of the ACT. Moreover, they will be taught proven and effective techniques – NOT TRICKS, but rather specific and replicable methodologies that are tailored to address the particular skills that the PSAT, SAT and ACT attempt to test. If your child is willing to do the assigned course work, we know that he or she will do well … very, very well. In fact, we know that diligent application of our techniques will make the test very manageable. Exciting news for the future of higher education access in Texas! Starting Fall 2025, #UTSA will expand eligibility for the Bold Promise tuition assistance program to Texas families earning up to $100,000, thanks to a $35 million investment from The University of Texas System. This initiative, supported by the UT System Board of Regents, removes financial barriers for more students pursuing their academic dreams. Since its launch in 2020, Bold Promise has transformed lives, providing full tuition and mandatory fee coverage to over 5,000 Roadrunners. The results speak for themselves: 300 graduates from our first cohort achieved an impressive 3.37 average GPA, with 67% being first-generation college students. With this expanded eligibility, we'll help hundreds of additional students annually reach their educational goals. This expansion reinforces UTSA's dedication to social mobility and educational access. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3V5caKx #BoldPromise #SocialMobility #HigherEd
