Mayo Clinic-level cancer care in patients' homes – the future is here. In collaboration with industry and academic leaders, Mayo Clinic is leading a transformative approach to cancer care by bringing it directly to our patients' homes. Our evidence strongly suggests that when patients can receive care in the comfort of their homes or return home more quickly, the benefits are profound - reduced stress, improved outcomes, and a significant positive impact on the overall health system costs. This initiative echoes the roots of our founder, William W. Mayo, who began his practice by extending his expertise directly to his patients' homes in the Rochester, MN, area. Our journey has come full circle, staying true to our mission as we embrace the evolving landscape of healthcare and prioritize the well-being of those we serve. Mayo Clinic's unwavering dedication to innovation, patient-centric care, and collaboration across sectors is shaping the future of cancer care, ensuring accessibility and improved outcomes for all. #MayoClinic #CancerCare #InnovationInHealthcare #PatientFirst #HealthcareTransformation

Today, on World Cancer Day, I focus on hope. With each passing year, we have witnessed remarkable advancements in medical technology, bringing us closer to breakthroughs in cancer treatment. Clinical trials, driven by the courage of innovators and participants, are paving the way for a brighter future. I truly believe that we have this unique opportunity to make cancer a chronic disease within our lifetime - something like hypertension, which is an annoyance for sure, but one that’s managed without fear. Cheers to that! #worldcancerday #hope #clinicaltrials #innovation

And we're off at advanced therapies USA... Great keynotes this morning highlighting the evolving regulatory landscape, modality-specific issues, and a patient fireside chat with (something you don't see nearly often enough), moderated by Cindy Perettie. Laurie Adami shared her moving, 12-year cancer journey from diagnosis to finally receiving a CAR-T therapy as her 7th (!!!) line therapy. She made the points that CAR-T while well known within the industry, are not among patients and community care centers. Patients today have to be "relentless in finding potential treatment options" and its sad to say that's true. What kept Laurie going was her ~6 year old son and husband. A powerful story indeed! As an industry, we need to get out of our bubble and change the status of these groundbreaking therapies. Patients shouldn't need to be their biggest advocates. We need to keep cases of secondary T-cell malignancies in perspective, and we need to expedite delivery of these therapies to sick patients before its too late. #celltherapy #pharma #cancer
