⭐ Innovation initiatives need the support of an organization’s leaders, otherwise they will die as soon as they are introduced. ⛔ Innovations may occur at the operational level with some initial success. But if they remain only at that level, their long-term prospects are poor, if not nil. ☣ Corporate antibodies against innovation initiatives are too strong. 💢 In consolidated companies, the long-term success of innovation depends on the support of top leaders. ✅ That is why the role of the CEO is especially important in this context. ✅ CEOs have the power to influence the changes needed to successfully drive an organization’s innovation programs. I invite you to read my article “Unlocking Business Innovation” for advisio GmbH, available in German, English, and Spanish. This article is aimed at those who want to successfully innovate in their organizations and create value for their shareholders at the same time. https://lnkd.in/dqB6sYDU

InnovaLatam was a huge success! Hosted for the sixth time in Cartagena by IXL, GIMI, the Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena, and Colsubsidio, this event attracted over 1,200 attendees both online and on-site. It is a unique gathering that brings together genuine innovation practitioners to share insights and learn from one another. Some messages I'd like to highlight: 1. Companies that embrace innovation proactively position themselves to adapt and thrive in rapidly changing markets 2. By prioritizing user-centered solutions, organizations can create products and services that resonate deeply with their customers 3. Testing ideas on a smaller scale allow for adjustments before significant investments 4. In times of pressure, organizations that cultivate a resilient mindset can pivot effectively, turning obstacles into opportunities for growth 5. Innovation cannot thrive in silos; organizations need to adopt a comprehensive and integrated approach that aligns various departments and strategies These are just a few, but they are enough to say that it was an enriching experience. Congratulations Carolina Chitiva for leading this effort. Questions to Spark Innovation Every breakthrough begins with a question. Why do we do it this way? What if we approached it differently? Innovations often start with challenging assumptions. Encourage your team to ask bold questions and explore the possibilities. Creating space for people to challenge status quo can lead to improved efficiency, better processes and most importantly, happy customers. Great leaders welcome and encourage innovation by creating a culture where anyone, at any level feels welcome to share their ideas and ask provocative questions.

Is your expertise getting in the way of innovation? Too many team leaders believe that to be credible they have to be as knowledgeable as their team members about the field. You can't be--and it is not why you are the leader. The need to be the smartest person in the room will stop new ideas in their tracks.

Innovation doesn’t just come from serendipity. The leaders we researched rely on concrete mechanisms to ensure that they see the right ideas, give them breathing room to develop, and look for intersections within the company where innovation can thrive throughout their organizations. These four pillars can help transform innovation from one-off achievements into consistent capabilities.
