Here’s how this candidate went about becoming the KING of a new castle?! Tired of the constant hiring in above or at the same level, this person was proactive in having a conversation. Step 1 - They picked up the phone and gave me a call. Their previous employer had a top heavy structure with people consistently coming in at the same level or above (they were senior!) Step 2 - They took the leap of faith to become the new King of Hearts ❤️ (A promotion and pay rise) at another firm who have given them a clear pathway to senior leadership roles and responsibilities. Don’t get too comfortable in a company that isn’t working for you and helping your career progression. Ask yourself the following: “If I stayed here for another 3 years - where would I be and how would I get there?” Please let me know your success stories from your time moving away from Top Heavy firms! Found some gold, notes from shadowing a top performer in 2017. Week 3-4 of my sales career... top notch onboarding at Cintas. 1. High Outbound Activity 2. Diligent Research/Preparation for the day, meeting, and market knowledge 3. Resilience in the face of objections and rejection 4. Efficiency 5. Incredible ability to move through a sales process quickly 6. Thorough Product Knowledge 7. On top of paperwork & internal communication for onboarding new clients 8. He had crystal a crystal clear “why” and was a man on a mission 7.5 years later I'd say the basics still work, despite the armchair warriors telling you outbound is dead and the sky is falling.. #sales #personaldevelopment #businessdevelopment

After waiting for over a month and a half following a referral for the DE&I Chief Officer role at VAMC Malcolm Randall, I received an email yesterday with some tough news—no one from the applicant pool was selected. Not going to lie—it's disappointing. But setbacks can be opportunities for growth, right? 💡 I'm planning to reach out to the HR hiring manager for feedback. Do you think this is the right step? I’d love to hear your thoughts on the value of asking for feedback after a missed opportunity. Has anyone been through something similar? How did you handle it? Let’s keep moving forward 💪 #JobSearch #Resilience #CareerGrowth #FeedbackMatters #OpportunityInSetbacks

I’d like to share an update and a story about my career change over the last seven months. My time at my previous employer came to an end around seven months ago. While I was there, I grew a territory from a few hundred thousand dollars to nearly $1 million in just three years. I had a lot of successes and learned a great deal during my time there. But at the end of the day, the health of the industry didn’t allow my wages to grow, and I felt very stuck. Ultimately, I held onto the hope of change for far too long. My hope wasn’t just about financial growth—it was about being recognized as a valuable asset to the company. After leaving, as I started interviewing and showing employers what I had accomplished, it became obvious that what I had done was substantial. I was given the opportunity to take over my own territory at Cintas Corporation. At first, after accepting the role, I had doubts. I wondered if I was really as valuable as I believed. Maybe I deserved to feel undervalued, as I had been at my previous job. But everything changed in my first month at Cintas—I caught fire. I performed so well that my training was ended early. Since taking over my territory, I’ve been ranked in the top 15 salespeople in my entire market for two consecutive quarters. Now, there’s even talk about adding jobs at my branch to support the new business we’re generating. This has been the most rewarding experience of my career. The opportunity to create jobs from my success and the success of the people around me has always been my goal. For three years, I lost a part of myself that was hungry, largely because I felt undervalued and unappreciated. At Cintas, it’s different. On a regular basis, I’m contacted by VPs, market managers, and even operations managers. Those conversations are always filled with excitement, gratitude, and appreciation. That level of recognition has been a game-changer for me. To contrast, at my previous employer, I closed the largest brewery contract in the company’s history during my final months there. It was a multi-location deal between California and Nevada. Despite that major win, I didn’t get a phone call, an email, or even a simple “attaboy.” If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this journey, it’s the importance of showing appreciation. To anyone reading this: recognize and value the people who make your company move in the right direction. At Cintas, we have a saying: “The spirit is the difference.” At first, I thought it was just a cheesy slogan. Now, I see it as the foundation of the incredible work environment we’ve built—a place where I don’t see myself leaving anytime soon.

Henry Ford took two applicants that were applying for a job at his factory to dinner. Both of them were equally qualified, potentially even geniuses. 🧠 They talked about events that were going on during the time. Before they went to leave, Ford indicated to one of the gentlemen, "My friend, you have the job." The other one that didn't get the job built up the courage to ask Mister Ford, "We didn't speak about engineering. We didn't speak about manufacturing. How did you possibly make a decision not to hire me?" He said, "Well, actually, it was very easy." He did two things. When the steak came, the other person tried the steak before he put the salt on. You put the salt on it before you tried the steak and I believe people should always try things before they change them and more importantly, when the waitstaff came, the other person acknowledged and thanked them every single time. You pretended like they didn't exist, and you were only kind and polite when speaking to me. And I don't believe in hierarchy. I believe in people. 🤝 The takeaway is when you have preconceived notions and you treat people poorly. Your plan will never go as well as you think. You'll never achieve your purpose, and your profits will always be lower than they could have been. What are you looking for in your candidates? Take them on a tour, see how they interact. Take them to dinner, see how they interact. Know the psychological profile of the person needed to fill the role, be on your team, and who supports your organization’s mission and clients needs and look for that. 😊 https://lnkd.in/dN7XUZNd #job #principles #tips #canidadates

Marijo Prodanic was #director of supplier cost recovery & quality at a multinational #automotive manufacturer in #Germany. Marijo’s “chosen home” is the #UnitedStates. He spent the early part of his career in the U.S. and he and his wife, an American, had agreed that, after five years in Germany, he would find a career path that enabled them to return. “Transitioning wasn’t as easy as we’d hoped. The Coronavirus interrupted my efforts. We thought it would last a few months, but we soon realized it would be a lot longer,” said Marijo. Feeling stretched by his day-to-day responsibilities to manage a job search, he decided early on to engage #TheBarrettGroup (TBG). After the Clarity Program, Marijo began working with Lori L. Chevalier, and Dan Resendes, his career consultants. “The greatest value I got from the program was how it shaped my mindset and prepped me for interviews. Once I was able to engage with someone, no company said “no” to me. TBG was able to put me in a position where, once I was at the table, I could hook people,” said Marijo. Indeed, Marijo’s landing, when it came, was a textbook career change in many respects. He learned of a position for director of warranty operations & technical assistance for an auto manufacturer in California. Through LinkedIn, he discovered that a former colleague worked there. Marijo reached out to his old pal to ask about the job, who encouraged him to submit his resume. The company loved him and, before long, Marijo had an attractive job offer in hand. “I cannot stress enough how important it was to me that The Barrett Group helped me present myself as an equal partner to employers in this job search. I didn’t leave my former job because I was unhappy; I left because I wanted a new challenge. An executive needs to exude confidence that is commensurate with the leadership position. That is what I learned from Dan, and that helped me in all my interactions. I can’t thank him enough.” More https://lnkd.in/dKa_e-bK If you like to land your desired role faster, let's talk. #careerchange #careers #jobsearch #executivesearch
