Described as “creepy” and a “dystopian nightmare,” it begs the question: if an agency had pitched this ad a few years ago, would they have been laughed out of the room for poor quality and execution? This misstep underscores a critical truth in the ongoing battle between AI and human creativity. While AI excels at speed, it falls short on the soul, emotion, and artistry that breathe life into storytelling. For creatives, this is a moral victory. It’s a clear reminder that human ingenuity is irreplaceable, and impactful advertising is built on connection—not algorithms. The takeaway? Technology should amplify creativity, not replace it. A simple yet excellent use case of Gen AI for advertising by Kimberly-Clark brand HUGGIES for their Latin American market. It might not be disruptive but certainly effective use of creative tech. Turning innocent imaginations of kids about their moms into AI-generated posters. Needless to say, the extendability of these AI-generated creatives goes beyond digital content for social media alone. Despite the viral noise and expert criticism, the mass consumer response has been positive. Most viewers (the ones who matter) are unaware or indifferent about whether ads are made with AI. They have positive emotions towards the brand, and that is what counts. This WSJ article (may be paywalled) sums it up. Some key thoughts it sparked for me 1. CONSUMERS DON'T CARE ABOUT HOW ADS ARE MADE. Despite the criticism from industry professionals regarding the quality of AI-generated imagery, consumer response has been largely positive.
