Our Founding Member Rate Closes in 15 days, so here are 15 things about The Sensemakers Club we think are worth highlighting: 🌟 We are Community-Centered: Shifting the focus from content to community changes what's shared and how. Without the right practices and rules in place groups reflect a narrower perspective. 🔒 Safer Spaces: Not sharing videos or transcripts of our small group discussions with those that missed the meeting ensures privacy and we believe also fosters more genuine conversations. 📚 Intentional Slow Chat: We locked our 20 topic channels to promote face-to-face interaction before chat. Once you have engaged in a discussion with a group on the topic, you will have the option to be added into the asynchronous channel for that topic group. 🎥 Member Orientation: We created a set of short, mandatory orientation videos with clear do’s and don’ts, intended to create a culture of inclusion, accountability and kindness from the start. 🤝 Diverse Topics, Deep Conversations: Small groups add depth and expand what we think or identify with. We know these needs shift as our work and lives change. Our membership is an all access pass to try on whatever parts of sensemaking feel right right now. 📅 Weekly Updates: Our chief sensemaker, Abby Covert, keeps members in the loop on themes and unexpected overlaps. She uses an AI note taking assistant to tell her about the meetings each week and records a short video about what happened last week, and what’s happening this week. 👥 Trained Leaders: We are proud to offer consistent, inclusive sessions from our trained discussion leaders to ensure our community thrives. They are trained to be welcoming to those new to the club, new to the discussion, or even new to the topic. 🛡️ Thoughtful Conduct: Our code of conduct is central to every meeting, supporting safe discussions of diverse viewpoints. Every meeting has a set of rules up top, and our leaders are trained to maintain them, and bring discussions back on track when needed. 💸 Founder’s Rate: This is your one chance to lock in the lowest rate we will ever offer, AND it is guaranteed for the duration of your membership. Offer is only good til June 1st. 🤲 1:1 Membership Model: For every paid membership, we offer a free membership to someone with limited financial means. We accept sensemakers who are looking for work, un(der)employed, and/or have limited purchasing power in USD. 👩💼 Team Rate: We are open to extending a special founding rate for teams of 5+ so if you have a team of people who make sense, we want to hear from you! 👩🏫 Exclusive Access: As a special bonus, members get a standing invitation to Abby Covert’s regular interactive sessions with her students, including her popular IA office hours and diagram critiques 🛍️ 25% Off: Members get a discount on all our products, including eCourses and events 🤓 Meet Your Nerdiest BFF: It’s hard making adult friends, but here, we see it’s already happening

REALTORS: The New York Times just exposed NAR’s free-spending circus—and it’s funded by YOUR hard-earned dues. We’re talking: 💸 Six-figure payouts for so-called “volunteer leaders.” ✈️ First-class flights, spa days, $300 bottles of wine, and Hamilton tickets. 🐾 Dog-sitting perks for a CEO pulling in $2.6 MILLION a year. Meanwhile, Realtors are out here grinding in one of the most brutal housing markets in decades. This isn’t leadership. It’s exploitation. It’s a betrayal of every Realtor trying to make an honest living while paying into a system that’s supposed to serve them, not bankroll lavish lifestyles. The everyday Realtor didn’t sign up for this. You’re being fleeced, and the audacity of calling this “volunteerism” adds insult to injury. This industry deserves better. It’s time to demand real accountability, real transparency, and an end to the culture of excess. Realtors, if this makes your blood boil, SPEAK UP. Your voice matters, and your silence won’t fix this. Real Estate News Mitch Robinson Stephanie R. Stefan Swanepoel James Dwiggins Keith Robinson Dean Cottrill Lisa Piccardo

NTIA Warns Of Safety Risks And Financial Losses As UK Businesses Shut Down Amid Growing Unrest The Night Time Industry Association (NTIA) has expressed deep concern at the current unrest scene in towns and cities. Michael Kill CEO, Night Time Economy Association said; “As the CEO of the Night Time Economy Association, I am compelled to address the escalating concerns regarding the safety of our staff and customers amidst the recent unrest and riots sweeping across the UK.” “The night time economy—comprising bars, clubs, restaurants, and entertainment venues—has always been a vibrant and vital part of our communities, bringing people together, providing joy, entertainment, and significant economic contributions.” “The surge in violence and disturbances in various cities has caused immediate physical damage and led to numerous closures, severely impacting trade. Many businesses now face an uncertain future, with long-term financial repercussions looming large. The damages sustained and the subsequent loss of trade are significant blows to a sector that has already endured tremendous challenges over the past few years. Millions of pounds could be lost in a matter of days as businesses are forced to close in fear of damage and threats to public safety.” “The safety of our staff and customers is paramount. We urge the authorities to take decisive action to restore order and ensure the protection of everyone within the night time economy. Our workers should not have to fear for their safety when coming to their place of employment, and our patrons should be able to enjoy their evenings out without the threat of violence.” “We call on local and national governments to provide immediate support to affected businesses. This includes financial assistance to repair damages, a clear plan to restore public safety, and measures to prevent future unrest. It is crucial that we work together to ensure our sector can recover and continue to thrive.” “The night time economy is resilient, but we cannot do this alone. The long-term impact of these disturbances could be devastating if we do not act swiftly and decisively. We must prioritise the safety and security of our communities to ensure that our beloved venues can continue to be places of enjoyment and social connection.” “We stand united with our staff, patrons, and fellow business owners during these challenging times. Together, we will work towards a safer, more secure environment for everyone involved in the night time economy.” Read More:

With the holiday season coming up, you may be planning to celebrate with your paid employees. Before you hire a restaurant or book an event, make sure you work out if the benefits you provide your employees are considered entertainment related, and therefore subject to FBT. This will depend on: the amount you spend on each employee when and where your celebration is held who attends – is it just employees or are partners, clients or suppliers also invited? the value and type of gifts you provide. If you do provide entertainment-related fringe benefits, keep records detailing all of this information so you can calculate their taxable value. It's important to get on top of how FBT works before you provide perks and extras. Otherwise, you may end up with an unexpected FBT liability. #acccountants #advisors #virtualcfoservices

Tipflation.. The increasing pressure to tip in Ireland, often prompted by digital interfaces suggesting a minimum of 15%, is concerning. It’s a new thing. Traditionally, tipping in Ireland is an extra on top of fair wages, not a substitute. The Payment of Wages (Amendment) (Tips and Gratuities) Act 2022 ensures tips are additional to wages and fairly distributed. While there's no legal basis to challenge the pressure to tip, the focus should be on ensuring fair wages for employees. Where it’s felt it’s pressure one should quietly ask to see the manager. Tipping should be based on service quality, not obligation. It's crucial for business owners to compensate their staff adequately, reducing the reliance on tips for income which this pressure smacks of

Just my thoughts, and maybe not everyones, but we need our customers to come on the journey with us, so they are able to better understand the costs behind what we do, the reason we exist, and just how hard our teams and owners work to make sure that when customers choose to come to our venues, that we are there to give them the best experience ever. I’m not sure where I signed up as a business, to fund the compensation of a failed Horizon system. Should that not be the responsibilty of Government to go and chap the door of the company involved rather than the businesses already struggling? #hospitality #budget

Ridiculous to say the least! - Especially when most ratepayers (including renters etc who contribute toward-such in accomodation-costs) are struggling to put food on the table! I rather have to say that elected local-bodies & their representatives should be held much-more accountable with regards wasteful expenditure of constituent's money ..... In the form of more transparency to expose all this nonsense along with heavily reduced bonuses for making ill-use of revenue collected to rely upon the age-old tradition of "You scratch my back and I'll scratch your's". Is it of any wonder that these officials set themselves up for life and/or move onto higher politics where the same applies?! Get with the programme where more people are enlightened in today's world. Pathetic really!!!

The government has announced a 6.7% increase in the #NLW from £11.44 to £12.21, and a huge 16% increase in #NMW for 18 - 20 year olds who move from £8.60 to £10 per hour from 1 April 2025. The increases are within the ranges estimated by the #lowpaycommission in the summer but have swung slightly towards the top end due to recent data on average UK earnings. It also demonstrates the government's commitment to moving towards one rate for all working adults. This is in addition to the widely rumoured 1-2% increase in #EmployersNIC set to be announced by the Chancellor in today's #AutumnBudget. With the government costing the impact of the #employmentrightsbill to UK employers at £5 billion, workforce costs are set to rise significantly. It's hard to square the circle with the government's ambitions to grow the economy when these announcements are already leading to a pause in hiring decisions and growth plans for some businesses. Join our team of experts this afternoon as we pour over the details of the Chancellor's first budget. I'll be looking out for any further insights on the government's #makeworkpay plans and how that will affect employers. #rsminsights #employmentrights #employmentlaw #employmenttax #hr Andrew Timpson James Hemphill Susan Ball David Williams-Richardson Martin Cooper Joanne Webber Richard Travis-Nash Dale Charnock Angela Huck
