In a field where "𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬" often lead to the most transformative insights, I was honored to be one of the rare foresight experts invited to discuss the future of futures thinking. Frank's vision to 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 and futures thinking is not only refreshing but necessary in our era of systemic transformation. During our conversation, we explored the 𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 "𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯," 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘧𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵. We delved into the importance of including diverse voices in these conversations and the need for organizations to engage in deep imagination and impactful activism. 𝐀 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐅𝐒𝐗 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. It's dialogues like these that fuel my commitment to challenging the status quo and inspire hope and awe in what we can achieve. Foresight, schmoresight 🙃 Just to be clear: I love the future. My kids will live in it. But we need to start prioritizing immediate action and present-day improvements over futurist mirages and relentless predictions. Consider this a call-to-action focused on making tangible improvements now rather than waiting for some hypothetical future. My New Year’s resolution: 1. Taking concrete action today rather than endless planning for tomorrow 2. Addressing current problems and inequalities rather than just talking about future solutions 3. Building foundations for positive transformation in the present moment 4. As an architect turned futurist-entrepreneur, I have always been drawn to the intersection of design, innovation, and what becomes possible when we think beyond the present. Being part of Imaginize World, hosted by Jane M., felt deeply aligned with my work and passions. In this episode, my co-founder Chris Luebkeman and I discussed how your 2040 provides a compass for imagining and building a future that adapts to challenges ahead while shaping pathways to regeneration. Together, we explored the urgency of action, opportunities available now, and ways small steps spark significant change.
