You have Obsolescence? One of our last Academy classes had a combined class obsolescence total of over $2.1 million which averaged $93K obsolescence per student for the class. I’ve been tracking obsolescence and other stats for over 400 Academy classes as I see every student’s DMS reports prior to the students arrival. Even with next day (or same day delivery) and Vendor Managed Inventories, obsolescence is a major problem for dealers and continues to grow larger every year. With parts inventories being the second largest cash investment in your store, what is your store doing to identify, mitigate, control, and reduce your Obsolescence position? Would you turn $500k to over a million dollars of your 401k to an ill-trained, under trained, or never trained investment advisor? So how much have you invested in training your parts manager?

Adaptations in Action! 🧑🦽This week’s top tip is for Remote Keypad Controls! This adaptation is very popular among drivers who have experienced a stroke and are left with reduced functionality on one side, and is often used in conjunction with a left foot accelerator pedal. If you have functional use of only one arm, a remote keypad attached to a steering aid enables you to steer and operate the auxiliary controls, such as the indicators and wipers, with one hand. There are various shapes and sizes of keypad available. The control can be mounted on either the left or the right side of the steering wheel, and can also easily be removed and switched off when not in use, for example if someone else wishes to drive the vehicle. FACT! Herts Ability has a fleet of dual controlled vehicles with a range of driving and transfer adaptations. Every vehicle is fitted with dual controls for safety and insurance purposes and all assessments take place in a dual controlled car. A client can use their own (or an instructor’s vehicle) if it is fitted with dual controls.
