On June 21st, I had the opportunity to be a panelist and deliver a speech at the Wema Bank Plc. Bankers in Training Alumni Forum, discussing ‘The Future of Work’. The event, organized by Purple Academy was anchored and facilitated by Atinuke Onifade. It was an exciting, impactful, and interactive session. Recently I completed the HSBC Global Banking and Markets Banking & Markets Job simulation on Forage. It was an incredible experience gaining insights into advisory and investment markets, capital markets, corporate banking, trading, sales, and securities services of HSBC. It has further deepened my passion and curiosity for the finance industry. Here’s a glimpse of what I accomplished, · Completed a simulation, focused on the type of work undertaken by Investment Banking & Markets teams within HSBC’s Global Banking & Markets (GB&M) business. · Defined strategic rationales for Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and filtered potential targets, gaining invaluable insights into the decision-making process behind these complex transactions. · Analyzed transaction data to develop concise summaries of Debt Capital Markets (DCM) activity, understanding market trends. · Matched financial products with diverse clients, tailoring solutions to meet their specific needs and objectives, thereby gaining hands-on experience in client relationship management. · Analyzing financial data to conduct SWOT analyses of deals, screening, and strategizing for hedging opportunities. · Enhancing trade processes, optimizing efficiency and accuracy within the workflow. As a recent Master of Banking and Finance graduate actively seeking entry-level opportunities, this internship has been instrumental in shaping my understanding of the intricacies of the finance sector. We conducted a “Careers in Banking” introductory workshop recently to a full house of students interested in exploring the industry.
