December brings with it the fast pace and added pressures of the holiday season. For many employees, this can lead to stress and exhaustion, which makes retention and well-being especially important at this time of year. For HR professionals, it’s an opportunity to support staff not just through December but all year round. Here are some ways #HR can assist employees during this busy period: * Encourage #flexibility: Adjust schedules where possible to accommodate personal and family commitments. * Reinforce #workload boundaries: Ensure employees aren’t taking on more than they can handle and respect their right to disconnect outside of work hours. * Recognise contributions: Acknowledging effort and dedication can go a long way to making staff feel valued. * Support #wellbeing: Share resources on managing stress and maintaining mental and physical health, and consider implementing longer-term initiatives to promote overall wellness. December may be particularly demanding, but investing in measures to support employees’ health and balance is a year-round commitment. By fostering an environment that prioritises boundaries, well-being, and appreciation, HR can play a pivotal role in creating workplaces where employees feel supported every day. How is your organisation supporting staff as the year comes to a close? #WorkplaceBoundaries #RightToDisconnect #HRLeadership #hubpassforbusiness #WorkLifeBalance

Supporting Employee Wellbeing During the Festive Season 🎅 The festive season is often called the most wonderful time of the year—but for some employees, it can be the most stressful, especially for those who are working hard to deliver (Santa pun intended) high service levels to their customers and clients. Managers and HR have a unique opportunity to support their teams during this busy season by: 🎁 Offering flexible working arrangements to help employees balance work and personal commitments. 💡 Reminding managers to set realistic deadlines and avoid piling on work before year-end. 🎄 Promoting wellbeing initiatives, such as stress management resources or quiet spaces for those who need them. Remember, not everyone approaches this time of year with the same excitement. A little understanding can go a long way in creating a supportive and compassionate workplace. My take on the current state of wellbeing in the workplace... Neglecting Sickness absence It's not seen as the go to area to focus on. Lots of misconceptions about managing sickness absence from employer and employee sides. Get it right and it can help the businesses bottom line of ensuring people are well enough to be at work and supports their wellbeing. Wellbeing Gimmicks Pizza Fridays, duvet days, are becoming attempts to show a wellbeing cultures. They are fine to have as long as you can explain why you have it in place and how that fits in to your overall approach to wellbeing. Accepted cultures Not taking lunch breaks, tick box DSE assessments, working when on leave are just some of the cultures we allow to creep in and stay. These are the things we need to put a stop to. We need to have a strategic approach to wellbeing if we want to take it seriously. #HR #Wellbeing
