The evaluation of Working Wales, a careers and employability support service delivered by Careers Wales since 2019, offers valuable insights and recommendations for future service needs. In 2019 the Welsh Government commissioned Wavehill to conduct a full programme evaluation. Over the last five years, we have developed a comprehensive evaluation framework and extensive evaluation reports on different aspects of this service. The latest reports in this series include: 👉 The Rural and Urban Paper: This examines geographical accessibility and differences in service delivery between rural and urban areas. 👉 The Refugee and Migrant Paper: This assesses how Working Wales provides support for refugees and migrants. It highlights strengths and identifies gaps for future delivery. 👉 The Strategic Report: This provides summative findings from the evaluation and offers recommendations to enhance future service delivery. These comprehensive assessments have involved consultations with a wide range of key stakeholders and customers. The work reflects the Welsh Government’s commitment to supporting the diverse needs of the Welsh population. It emphasises the importance of tailored support to address the different employability needs that people face. New funding that will support more people into work has been welcomed by the The CIPD in Wales and Transport for Wales, who share a commitment to help create fair work and quality jobs. This funding will enable local areas to create their own local plans to help people access health and skills support, so they can secure paid employment. Marek Zemanik, senior public policy advisor for the UK nations at the CIPD, said: “The UK Government’s focus on breaking down barriers to employment– including for those that are disadvantaged – and providing more joined up local support will be invaluable in helping more people get into paid employment."
