HAPPY NATIONAL RECYCLING DAY 100% - more is not possible. Except three times 100%. RHEINZINK can easily be collected by type during renovation work or after the utilisation phase of a building. It is then 100% recyclable without any additional intermediate steps. Even the trimmings from the production process are 100% re-melted and then used in new products. And what happens to the quality and product properties during the recycling process? They are completely retained in the cradle-to-cradle principle. Naturally 100%. Small Steps Have a Big Impact! At Futures Supplies we recognise that our business activities have an unavoidable impact on the environment. Our approach is therefore to support the environment by continually striving to make it part of our ethos to reduce the creation of waste through recycling. This approach is applied throughout our organisation and through third parties involved in, or with our business, in such a way to facilitate the protection of the environment. We are committed wherever possible and practicable to sustainable practices, encouraging similar standards from all customers, suppliers, and contractors on environmental matters. As part of this commitment to reduce, reuse, and recycle, we strategically segregate all our scrap plastic film waste such as stretch pallet wrap, pallet covers and plastic packaging. This plastic waste is collected on pallets by our supply partners and reprocessed into recycled pellet ready to be re blown into new films for reuse in the recycled range of refuse sacks we sell thereby closing the recycling loop. We have also successfully implemented measures to reduce and recycling all of our paper, card and plastics. Our printer cartridges are recycled and postage stamps are recycled through the Royal National Institute of Blind People. 🌍♻️ The goal of #ClosetheGlassLoop is to reach a 90% collection for recycling rate of glass packaging by 2030 in the EU. Each part of the value chain plays a crucial role in reaching this objective and as a result, every decision has an impact on all the other parts – starting with the decision to establish a separate collection system for glass packaging. From the beginning, we have focused our efforts on municipalities, to identify opportunities from glass collection and showcase best practices. Now, with the release of the “Roadmap to Optimise Closed Loop Recycling of Glass Packaging,” we aim to spotlight the industrial part of the value chain, aiming at guaranteeing maximum outputs from all collected glass. From our “Performance of Packaging Glass Recycling in Europe” report, we estimate that 91% of all glass that is recycled is recycled in a closed loop. Can we go even further? Plastics Recycling –It’s Not Linear! Learn why not at the Summit This panel session will explore business-focused approaches being taken to handle plastic waste, from residential to commercial and industrial applications. Take a deep dive on how a replacement for vinyl ski lift seats and polyethylene tarps is diverting plastic waste from landfills, and a packaging foam recycling system designed for municipal recycling programs. We recently held a productive meeting with our community partners at Goodwill Omaha's Retail Operations Center, where we explored the expansion of our sustainability and recycling initiatives. It was inspiring to collaborate with organizations such as Hillside Solutions, the Nebraska Recycling Council, First Star Fiber, and members of UNO's Environmental Economics Department. During the meeting, we highlighted our achievement of diverting 8.75 million pounds of textiles from landfills in 2023 and discussed the opportunities to enhance our recycling capabilities. While we have made progress, there is still much work to be done, particularly in improving recycling rates for textiles, plastics, glass, and metals. As we move forward, we aim to establish a Sustainability Advisory Council and foster innovative partnerships to tackle the challenges in recycling and waste management. Our goal is to create a zero-waste initiative that not only reduces waste in Omaha but also brings greater transparency to our recycling processes. We are excited about the potential collaborations on the horizon and look forward to transforming our ambitions into actionable strategies.
