The submission for changes to The Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act 2011 are now being considered. I urge people not to allow this to happen. Not only does this legislation bring in changes that make access to fair consideration of rights prohibitive, it is a clear indication of Government interference in a process that allows for retrospective changes that mean Judges well considered decisions are overturned to meet a political agenda rather than seeking justice. This could set a precedent to the Government making other retrospective changes to suit themselves. Very dangerous. Here is the link. https://lnkd.in/g-mpVphj

Indonesia is currently not a contracting state to any international treaty on service of court documents. The Indonesian law also do not provide any guideline on outgoing and incoming service process. The absence of law drove the Supreme Court and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia to produce a protocol on the practice of international service process. This article explicates how the service of court documents out of and into Indonesia is carried out under such protocol. Hope you will find this an interesting reading. #serviceofcourtdocuments, #internationalserviceprocess, #Indonesianlaw, #IDSAttorneys

6 March 2024 The Bahamas stands with the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and expresses deep concern regarding the action taken on 3 April 2024, by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to promulgate “the Organic Law for the Defense of Guayana Esequiba.” The promulgation of this new law by all appearances are in direct contravention of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) Order issued on 1 December 2023: “the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela shall refrain from taking any action which would modify the situation that currently prevails in the territory in dispute, whereby the Co-operative Republic of Guyana administers and exercises control over that area.” The Bahamas affirms that the ICJ process is the most appropriate means to address this dispute under international law. We are a region of peace, as articulated in the Joint Declaration of Argyle for Dialogue and Peace between Guyana and Venezuela, 14 December 2023, and we urge the Government and the people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to abide by the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter in the peaceful settlement of disputes.
