⚖️ Essential Resource from the 7th Annual Black Policy Lab ⚖️ In the session Free the Black Uterus: The Many Fights for Dignity, Care & Equity, we addressed the criminalization of Black women and gender-oppressed people in their pursuit of dignity and care. The Interrupting Criminalization Initiative offers a wealth of resources to dismantle the systems that harm Black communities and to build pathways toward safety, equity, and justice. Their work centers on transforming the intersections of criminalization, gender, and race, ensuring that everyone has access to care, not criminalization. 📖 Explore their resources: https://lnkd.in/eJ-fwJGe This work is critical to reimagining justice and creating communities where care and equity thrive. Let’s amplify and support these efforts. #BlackPolicyLab #InterruptingCriminalization #ReproductiveJustice #CareNotCriminalization

🌟 Community Solutions, Inc. celebrates Juneteenth! 🌟 On June 19, 1865, Union troops announced in Galveston, Texas, that all enslaved African Americans were free. This day, known as Juneteenth, marks a pivotal moment in history—emancipation from slavery in the U.S. Our CEO Fernando Muñiz reflects, “Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It is a celebration of freedom and a reminder that the moral arc of the universe bends toward justice. This Juneteenth, we recommit ourselves to the work of equity and justice.” As an organization working in the criminal and juvenile justice systems, Community Solutions, Inc. is dedicated to ensuring that justice is not delayed for the people we serve. Our mission is to ensure that when individuals gain physical freedom, they also experience every other measure of freedom. Only then will we have achieved our true goal as a nonprofit organization committed to serving historically marginalized populations. Let’s honor this day by continuing to strive for a more just and equitable society. #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #EquityAndJustice #CelebrateFreedom

Are you at the Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO) Conference in Los Angeles, CA this week? Join us tomorrow! Frontline Founder, Marcus Littles, will be in conversation with Phillip Agnew and Angie Junck on "Reframing Evidence: Base-building as a Road to Black Liberation" Tues. May 21, 3:15-4:30PM in the San Fernando Room on the Lobby Level. There’s often a conversation around the lack of metrics and evidence that base building has led to Black liberation and supports Black people to reclaim their power. Organizing is an effective tool and we can be thinking about how to leverage metrics and evidence to serve the community instead of being extractive. In this space, we’ll be interrogating this assumption and discussing why base building should be a philanthropic priority, given the evidence of its success.

If you're a white supervisor interested in deepening your anti-racist approach in a supportive peer space, register for our next offering of Liberatory Principles & Practices for White Supervisors on Tuesday, July 30th! https://lnkd.in/gu6z9wps We often think of our healing and liberation as a garden that blossoms and thrives because we tend to it. Now, what happens when the pesky invasive species of white supremacy culture are set on destroying it? In our Liberatory Principles & Practices for White Supervisors training, we invite white social justice and nonprofit leaders to engage in this metaphor as a way to unpack and uproot how the characteristics of saviorism and defensiveness might be showing up in their supervision practices.
