Single-Plate Beam-to-Girder Connection Is there a requirement to use a full-height stiffener instead of a single plate connection at this location? If your answer is yes, in other words full-height stiffener is required because the end of the supported beam wants to rotate, and providing a full-depth shear stiffener helps to prevent the spandrel from twisting, you'd better read "Steel Interchange" in the AISC/Modern Steel January/2023.
