Ever wonder how utilities in the western United States are addressing climate change and extreme weather? S&P Global evaluates 335 water utilities across California, and by far, the most rewarding aspect of my job is that I get direct access to some of the best and brightest policymakers, operators and financial managers (Katano Kasaine of Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Sophia Skoda of EBMUD, Hong Lin of California Department of Water Resources, Lisa Marie Harris, NACD.DC of San Diego County Water Authority just to name a few) who are tackling the state's water challenges head on. For S&P Global's view on the financial implications of #waterresiliency #climatechange and #aginginfrastructure for utilities in California, please see our recently published commentary: https://lnkd.in/g4EjMYc8

constellr and OroraTech have teamed up to submit a policy brief to the European Committee of the Regions' stakeholder consultation on the EU Blue Deal. 💙 The need for an ambitious ‘Blue Deal’ refers to a comprehensive water strategy aimed at tackling the pressing challenges of water scarcity, droughts, and floods across Europe. It seeks to address the urgent need for sustainable water management practices in the face of escalating climate crises and would be the perfect complement to the EU’s Green Deal. The significance of the Blue Deal cannot be overstated. With water stress affecting 60% of European cities and projections indicating a 35% increase in water scarcity by 2070 without intervention, the need for action is paramount. Thermal infrared imagery can make a significant contribution to monitoring droughts, soil moisture, water consumption, and many more. Stay tuned for updates on how constellr and Ororatech's contributions will shape this crucial initiative. #EUBlueDeal #watermanagement #thermalimagery #constellr #Ororatech #waterchange Dr. Lina Hollender Max Gulde Thomas Grübler Martin Langer Matthias Johannes Wachter Anna Christmann European Committee of the Regions

🚀 It's very interesting and great to see two #newspace operators to close a partnership! Congrats 🎉 to both constellr and OroraTech ! Water 💦🌊 is more than everything for our planet, excellent initiative with the EU Blue Deal With almost 16+ Earth observation 🌎 operators launching🚀 in the next few years and a large variety of new sensors which can be complementary to each other, #partnerships or joint product developments to dig deeper on new use cases are excellent initiatives to provide benefits to the end user segment

Facing these hurdles, let's talk adaptation—but what exactly does that mean for our water systems? Think of it this way: we've got to completely revamp how we build and run our aquatic networks. The old-school setups were based on climate models, which just don't cut it any more—it’s like trying to use a flip phone to tweet. Everyday should be World Water Day. We all rely on water, it is a human right. Yet over 2 billion people currently live without access to safely managed drinking water. The United Nations World Water Day theme this year is 'Water for Peace'. Conflict surrounding water is increasing, and we’re looking at a world that will fight wars over it. We cannot have peace until we have everybody working together to secure our most precious resource. Water cannot wait. We need to create unconventional partnerships to secure a world without water scarcity. We must bring together: • Corporations • Tech firms • Researchers • Industry experts • Engineers • Water utilities • NGOs Along with other stakeholders to challenge the status quo and take action. We need so many more of us to forge these catalytic communities where we can make real change. When we join forces to manage water resources, we get a hugely positive chain reaction. Harmony is fostered, economic well-being flourishes, and communities become more resilient to shared challenges. We can change the face of water loss. Will you join us on this journey? Find out more how you can be part of our catalytic community here: https://lnkd.in/dFXYdDKu This is #TheFIDOWay. #Water #WorldWaterDay #AI #Data #WaterLoss #WWD #WaterLoss #WaterPositive Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS)

What will the infrastructure of the future look like? It will need to be robust, responsive and environmentally sound, built rapidly from renewable and long-lasting materials. It will also need to withstand new climate-change challenges, protecting people and property while blending seamlessly into the urban and suburban landscape. The future will demand flood prevention, rainwater harvesting and fire mitigation – and water tank solutions can play a sustainable role. Find out more about how.
