💰$119 Million Up for Grabs: Solving Water Scarcity through Innovation The UAE, through the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative, is backing bold ideas to address one of the greatest challenges of our time—water scarcity. 👏 Circular lamellar settling, SUEZ innovates in Laon! In Laon, SUEZ has built its first circular SEDIPAC®D, an optimisation of the classic SEDIPAC® D solution. Conventionally square in shape, the SEDIPAC solution is a lamellar primary settler, operating without reagents or sludge recirculation. 💧 Water scarcity poses a significant challenge for European society. 40% of extracted water is consumed by the industrial sector. This issue is particularly acute in regions with limited water resources, where water quality is sometimes compromised, and where a substantial amount of energy is consumed in water treatment processes. 🏭 Despite these urgent concerns, solutions for industrial wastewater recovery remain scarce, mainly due to the lack of adequate valuation of water resources, discouraging investment in essential water recovery technologies. 🔄 In response to this critical issue, the EU-funded #R3VOLUTION project emerges. Titled “A revolutionary approach to maximize process water reuse and resource recovery through a smart, circular, and integrated solution,” this project aims to revolutionize industrial water management across the European Union. By promoting sustainable and efficient water and resource consumption practices, #R3VOLUTION introduces key innovations to facilitate economic, environmental, and operational water recovery, addressing challenges associated with solute and energy recovery. #R3VOLUTION is coordinated by Cetaqua - Water Technology Centre, which hosted the project's kick-off meeting in Barcelona in early February. 🎉🏆 🫧 🌪️We are delighted to announce that VorTech Water Solutions has been shortlisted, with our colleagues at Isle Utilities, for the prestigious Water Industry Awards 2024 in the #Groundbreaker category. The award shortlist recognises our Vortex Powered Aeration™ (VPA™ ) technology which is an innovative, new class of wastewater treatment system that significantly reduces the operational and total lifecycle costs of wastewater management. The system is uniquely powered by vortex (or cyclonic) flow and its objectives are simple and straightforward: fix the challenges associated with conventional aeration infrastructure, particularly by reducing cost and energy use. In this project, alongside diminishing the maintenance costs and enhancing the safety of operation at a major industrial facility, VorTech’s VPA™ technology has achieved a 30% reduction in specific energy consumption, contributing to more sustainable and cost-effective operations. The project received amazing support from our partners at Isle Utilities and Xylem Innovation Labs. AC is a highly effective adsorbent due to its large surface area, pore structure, and high surface reactivity. AC removes impurities, organic compounds, and heavy metals from water. 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬: 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠. De Nora is addressing this challenge through local regeneration or extending AC’s useful life as in the Life Cascade project.
