The topic of mental health within sports is being discussed more than ever, but we still have a long way to go. Let's continue to be advocates and spread awareness so that more athletes and young people feel comfortable expressing and talking about the challenges they face. It's crucial because, as we know, everyone will face a mental health challenge at some point in their life. By fostering an open and supportive environment, we can help ensure that no one has to face these challenges alone. #mentalhealthawareness #linkedInsports #athletes

In strong support of Mental Health Awareness Week just around the corner, and their message of ‘movement’, this year I have set myself the challenge to run 100k in May. Why? - the #MentalHealthFoundation do a tremendous job in promoting the importance of wellbeing and prioristing mental health, so my aim as an advocate of safety and well-being both inside and out of my profession is to recognise these efforts and raise awareness of this great chairty, and hopefully help and inspire others to do the same, whether this resonates with one person or the wider audience. We can all make a difference. Progress Update ✅ Thankfully so far we are right on the money at the end of week one, with 25k in the bag (including two days of doing very very little, eating mostly!) Why is this important? ✅ Everyone deserves good mental health. Most if not all of us will encounter stress in various ways, will have down days, and some more than others, sometimes things don’t go to plan, but there are many ways that you can change your outlook and even that of someone else’s for the better! What have I learned so far? ✅ - I feel energised, focussed, and positive for longer - The ‘runners high’ tends to stick around more - I need a new running playlist…and some better trainers - I am cetianly not as fit as my footballing days. What can you do? ✅ I warmly welcome if you can to participate in this years initiative, whether that’s your own running or walking challenge, joining a sports team, or even just going out for a stroll with a friend, with family, or with your music, to the park, into town, even to the pub - you won’t regret it! Check out this panic attack toolkit from Kate O’Leary. It can be really helpful to have some simple, but effective tools for managing stress and anxiety.
Mental Health Educator | MHFA England Training Instructor | Inspirational Speaker | Founder of Wellbeing First Aid
We ended up having to deep-breathe our way through week 3 of the NCS - National Citizen Service Trust Programme with Action4Youth last week, so this week I wanted to share a cheap & simple idea for a PANIC ATTACK TOOL KIT that might help anyone who works with young people. I had the opportunity to support Sarah with this Panic Attack Toolkit and some crisis first aid advice to help a young person who was experiencing nightly panic attacks at camp. Here’s the toolkit I shared with her (pic in comments) It might be helpful for any young people you know experiencing panic attacks: 🪄 Bubble Wand: Helps visualise and slow down breathing. 🤲 Stress Ball: Grounds them and focuses on the present moment. 📜 Box Breathing Instructions: A simple, effective breathing exercise. 🌀 Fidget Toy: Distracts and channels energy. In our mental health sessions, I teach young people this box breathing exercise, let them practise it, and explain how they can use it to help a friend during a panic attack by talking them through these steps. Please download or share the box breathing exercise with anyone who you think might find them useful 💚 Shoutout to our amazing camp leader, Sarah Fergusson, who did an INCREDIBLE job! #Action4Youth #MentalHealth #YoungMinds #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthForBusiness #MentalHealthForSchools

We're giving away a month's free access to Frame Online for anyone who needs it most. This years theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is 'Movement: Move more for your mental health' which is 100% aligned with our vision at FRAME #moveyourframe For Joan Murphy and I, we have always been completely focused on spreading the message that 'exercise makes your feel good', highlighting the link (in a tongue-in-cheek, 'Framey' way... obvs) when most people, especially women, only saw exercise as a punishment and a way to lose weight. We're lucky enough that we get to 'Frame' on the regs... but I never once take this for granted. It makes the tough days bearable and the good days, next level. Whether it's in the studios with one of our amazing instructors (it takes a special human to teach at Frame) or at home in Somerset with our brilliant On Demand offering, I know that however I'm feeling, there's always something to suit my mood. We're very aware that not everyone is lucky enough to have this access to fun, joy-giving movement. I can see why a lot of people fall at the first hurdle, based on the cost, seriousness, and often blandness of what's out there on offer. Frame might not be for everyone. But we are for most - whether our Pilates classes complement your other types of training, or whether Dance Cardio feels far enough from a workout not to fill you with fear. If you know ANYONE who you feel might benefit from more regular movement, whatever that may be, please spread the word and let them know that until the end of the week, they can get FREE access to hundreds of brilliant videos, from just 5 mins long. We're hoping that the regular feedback of "I hated exercise until I found Frame" is going to explode and that we, in our own little way, can have a genuine impact on the mental health of so many who aren't feeling great right now. #movetochangeyourmood #mentalhealthawarenessweek #moveyourframe https://lnkd.in/eEZkzu8f
Move Your Frame on Instagram: "It’s Mental Health Awareness Week, and this year the theme is Movement: Moving more for our mental health, which couldn’t align more perfectly with our vision at Frame. To support those who come against the many barriers of exercise, we’re offering a free month of FRAME On Demand - with hundreds of online classes for all abilities. Teaching has been a journey of challenges and privileges. 🤛🏻🏆 As we mark Mental Health Awareness Week, I've come to appreciate the importance of addressing the mental health struggles that educators like me often face. 🎗🎓💐 During my time in schools where teacher well-being was prioritised, I experienced firsthand the positive impact of simple measures: ✔ I've joined colleagues on walks or yoga sessions during lunch breaks, which re-energised my energy for the rest of the day.👣 ✔ Free breakfast networking sessions with healthy options offered, enabling connections among colleagues and boosting morale.🥐 ✔ Knowing that I wouldn't have to worry about planning cover work when taking sick leave provided much-needed peace of mind.🤕 ✔ Perhaps most importantly, the culture of care extended to checking in on each other regularly, asking sincerely, "How are you doing?" and truly listening to one another. 👂❤️🩹 These strategies have not only made my job more enjoyable but also improved my overall well-being. 💗⭐ What initiatives have you implemented or experienced in your school that have positively impacted mental well-being among educators and students alike? #NoMindLeftBehind #TeacherWellness #SchoolCulture #TeacherSupport #MindfulTeaching #WellnessInEducation
