I want to make you aware of an organization that has helped over 1 million children worldwide to develop confidence, leadership skills and resiliency through playing Sports. The organization, Pitch in for Baseball and Softball (PIFBS), provides kids in under-resourced areas of the U.S. and over 100 countries the equipment they need to play these Sports. The mission is to eliminate barriers by providing equipment directly to leagues, schools, and organizations around the world who are most in need. As an Advisory Board Member of PIFBS, I have seen firsthand how this organization has helped children. Studies have shown that the majority of students who participated in these programs in the most current year tracked have improved attendance and GPA. 🎓 Skill-Building in Action! 📚✨ Our high school students recently participated in an engaging workshop on skimming and scanning – essential skills for any reader! 💡 Using a mix of texts—classic literature, recipes, poems, and contemporary flash fiction—they practiced: 🔍 Skimming to identify themes, like uncovering the heart of a poem. 📖 Scanning to find key details, such as a specific measurement in a recipe. But retreats, field trips and summer trips to other countries help students decide who they want to be and what they want to do with their lives.
