I’m fortunate to work for an organization that actively supports the movement toward equity, and I’m honored to serve as chair for our ERG, which champions employees with both seen and unseen differences. As we observe National Employment Disability Awareness Month in October, I want to challenge us all: How can we put #equityintoaction every day? When thinking about safety, do we also consider colleagues with unique needs—mobility challenges, temporary conditions, or anxiety in an emergency situation? Are there ways to ensure everyone can evacuate or respond safely in an emergency? Is this something your organization could include in safety briefings, or are there other ways to create a more inclusive environment for employees with diverse needs? Let’s continue thinking differently and making our workplaces more inclusive for everyone.
