Off track, there's still some great engineering stuff going on over here! Here's some great footage put together by Association for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers (AFBE-UK) / Scottish Branch: Association for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers (AFBE-UK Scotland) from a visit we made to one of their Ignite days at some local schools in Scotland. Always fun to share a room with a group of students, and it's always impressive to see how sharp and engaged they are. The aim of these days is to show them what motorsport engineering is about and the world of opportunity open to them in STEM careers. Mission accomplished!

The top one, a modern version of the protractor. The bottom one is one my uncle gave me which was his master during his first engineering role out of his apprenticeship. Probably 50 years old now and still used 😳 A lovely rose wood box probably partially hand made, great quality 👌 Do you think the quality is the same today as it was back then 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 #britishengineeringisbest©️ #makingyourVISIONreality©️ #theBEASTnottingham #teamVPE #XYZ #cncmachining #ukmanufacturing #machininghardmetals #aerospace #nextgenerationengineer

No spoilers.... But Asia have dominated in the Manufacturing and Engineering Technology medals in WorldSkills Lyon 2024 The WorldSkills UK competitors have done brilliantly representing the #UK in this sector. Well done to all, I listened to Dan McCabe on Friday evening who said a medal is not the reason for competing. All will benefit hugely from the platform, opportunity and experience. There are 20 competitions in #Manufacturing and #Engineering. We entered nine competitions. We had medallions for excellence in Mechanical Engineering CAD, well done to Nathan Young and his expert Ryan Sheridan. Mechatronics, well done to Ben Love and Lucy Yelland and their expert Calum Knott Robot Systems Integration, well done Charlie Carson and Jason Scott and their expert Karla Kosch 👏👏👏 We say it's the Skills Olympics but as David Hoey CEO of WorldSkills said on Friday. Unlike the Olympics the briefs and standards change everytime and you can only ever compete once. But the competitions drive change, excellence and increase standards in skills overall. This week has really raised the profile of #skills #apprenticeships #youngpeople Best of luck Team UK 🇬🇧 in the other sectors.

🌟 Excited to Share My "SN bose Summer Internship Experience 2024 "at NIT Silchar! 🌟 I had the privilege of completing an enriching internship at NIT Silchar for 2 Months, working under the supervision of Dr. Gautam Chaubey. During this time, I delved into cutting-edge research focused on "Effects of Incident Shock Wave on Mixing and Flame Holding of Hydrogen in Supersonic Air Flow: A 2D Analysis". Through this project, I had the opportunity to: Design and optimize a scramjet combustor using ANSYS software, focusing on enhancing fuel mixing and flame stability in supersonic airflows. Analyze how shock waves influence the mixing of hydrogen with supersonic air, a crucial aspect for efficient combustion in aerospace applications. This experience has significantly broadened my knowledge in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), combustion mechanics, and high-speed aerodynamics, reinforcing my passion for aerospace engineering and sustainable energy solutions. A special thanks to Dr. Gautam Choubey for his invaluable mentorship and guidance throughout this internship! Looking forward to applying these learnings in future endeavors and contributing to the advancement of supersonic combustion technologies. #NITSilchar #InternshipExperience #AerospaceEngineering #CFD #HydrogenCombustion #ANSYS #ResearchAndDevelopment #SustainableEnergy

Walters’ interest in manufacturing began as he grew up with an engineer mother and an air traffic controller father. His first job in the industry was an internship with Indiana Precision Grinding, and during his sophomore year at Purdue University, he had the option to intern with a heavy equipment manufacturer near school or with Lockheed Martin MFC in Orlando. Walters decided to go with Lockheed Martin, and after graduating in 2020 with a degree in mechanical engineering technology, he returned to the aerospace company where he currently designs, integrates and sustains automated systems. #ManufacturingExcellence #Industry4_0 #SmartManufacturing #FactoryAutomation #LeanManufacturing #SupplyChain #DigitalTransformation #QualityControl #SustainableManufacturing #InnovationInProduction #MadeIn #AdvancedManufacturing #ProductionLine #EfficiencyInProduction #IndustrialEngineering #ManufacturingTechnology #ProductDevelopment #AssemblyLine #ManufacturingProcesses #EngineeringInnovation

Since today it's official: the new training sticker from the IHK Munich and Upper Bavaria (IHK stands for "Chamber of Industry and Commerce") is sticking on the front door. Five young talents will once again be starting at esmo AG in Rosenheim and Raubling in September 2024. Two industrial mechanics, two mechatronics engineers and one technical product designer. Anyone still looking for an apprenticeship for this year, watch out: The last apprenticeship position as a mechatronics technician is (still) open at the moment. It pays to be quick! And for those who have been planning for next year: Within six weeks, the new apprenticeships for 2025 will also be activated. We will also be looking for #apprentices as #industrialmechanics and #mechatronics technicians. (One more thing about the stickers: Of course, we also trained apprentices in the years before 2021 – and have done so continuously since 2006. However, the stickers no longer fit in the picture, would have been much too small... #runs) More about training at esmo AG you will find here: https://lnkd.in/dDYfe3CG #madeingermany #engineering #rosenheim #madeinbavaria #engineer #career #career start #mechatronics #technician #trainees #education #trainees

How one paper airplane created an Aerospace Engineer. This past Saturday, I had the privilege of volunteering at STEM NOLA's STEM Fest for Fulton Leadership Academy in Fulton, GA, on behalf of Subsume and our education consortium partners at TRAP University. I invite you to look at how in just two minutes, this young man went from apprehension to appreciation in STEM with the careful folding of his handcrafted craft. Excitedly, we walked over to the Federal Aviation Administration's table where Engineer Cathy Nelmes talked with him about her experience as an Engineer and encouraged him to continue learning more about the field of Aerospace Engineering. Gifted with a balsa wood plane kit and links to some digital learning tools for home, he began to build his future right in front of us. Ensuring all of our young (and young at heart) learners find their passion point in technology is critical as we transition from STEM to ESTEEM in our promise of Equitable Futures In Innovation. One fly kid was proof of that. I want to personally thank Calvin Mackie and this community of partners for making this rainy Saturday shine brightly with innovation and promise for these families. And shoutout to our students at Spelman College Morehouse College Clark Atlanta University Georgia Tech School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Georgia Tech College of Engineering we connected with our internship and workforce support as well. Next round at SUBSUME STUDIOS? Here for it. See Y'all In The Future! #SUBSUME #STEMFEST #TRAPUNIVERSITY #TECHISTHENEWTRAP

🌟 Excited to share a milestone! 🌟 I recently completed a summer research internship at the Institute of Aeronautical Engineering, focusing on the "Analysis of Wear and Friction Characteristics of EN19, EN47, and EN353 Materials." This experience was an incredible journey of learning, research, and practical application. It deepened my understanding of material properties and provided valuable insights into the aeronautical engineering field. A big thank you to my mentors and colleagues who guided me through this project! Looking forward to exploring more in this field. #Research #Engineering #Aeronautics #MaterialsScience
