Nokia is super-excited and proud to work with T-Mobile US and NVIDIA on exploring AI-RAN. #AIRAN has potential to become a game changer. It has been said that hyper-successes happen when there is not just one disruption but when two, three or more disruptions coincide. Here, Cloud, Artificial Intelligence and wireless networks come together. In this case, the network is 5G/6G Radio Access Networks (RAN). A geographically distributed network of points of presence, in other words RAN base stations, combined with AI computing and cloud computing benefits of automation and orchestration, will create AI-for-RAN and AI-on-RAN. AI-for-RAN is obvious. It is hardly surprising that it is possible to improve RAN performance, overall mobile network performance and customer experience by using AI. This is already happening today, as we already use AI and ML across our RAN products and services. But there will be much more to come. AI-on-RAN is emerging. There will be more and more AI applications that will be consumed over RAN. Some AI applications will even benefit from AI computing to be split between the user device (e.g. in XR) and RAN. And finally, most importantly, AI-RAN can become a multi-purpose network for both RAN and any AI workloads. #5G #6G #AIforRAN #AIonRAN
