💡 Thought for the day: In my recent conversations with Presidents, Chancellors, Provosts, and CIOs, one theme stands out — we’re in an era where leaders and department heads must take ownership of the technology that drives their departments and enterprises. Relying solely on IT teams to identify impactful product enhancements and future roadmap capabilities is no longer sufficient. Effective leadership requires being actively engaged in how technology shapes operations and productivity across the organization. 🚀 #Leadership #DigitalTransformation #HigherEd #Technology #Innovation
This is absolutely true and also difficult. IT needs to be prepared to be a good partner from advising to taking business areas through a good process for selection, implementation, adoption without letting the software dictate the process or vision.
The best advice I ever heard on this is: 'Empower your team, and they'll take ownership. Many companies focus on what they can extract from employees rather than fostering an environment of trust and innovation. That’s it. The sooner leaders recognize this, the better their organizations will thrive. I know you know this well!
