Lately, I’ve been thinking: What does it really take to craft a meaningful narrative? So often, we’re asked for a quick narrative — a few lines that capture the essence of a project or an organisation. But is that all a narrative is? True strategic narrative, at least in my experience, is a deeper commitment. It requires authentic engagement with the people, values, and unique elements that make up an organisation or project. A strategic narrative isn’t a one-and-done statement. Sometimes, it’s a single, powerful paragraph that guides every decision. Other times, it’s an evolving set of statements or even a collection of values that we return to again and again. It’s rarely a quick task; it’s a partnership, a dialogue. I’m curious: How do you define a strategic narrative, and what role do you think it should play in shaping meaningful work?
