#WeBlog Did you know how important are captions in an exhibition? Although research has mainly focused on the time spent reading them, there are deeper aspects to explore. Among these, the impact of captions on the overall quality of the visitor experience. In this blog article, authored by Maria Chiara Ciaccheri (Maria Chiara Ciaccheri), Content and Accessibility Designer of our team, we delve into how this information can radically transform the way we experience the museum. - #WeExhibit #ArtIsInTheProcess #OurServices #VisitorsExperience #ExhibitionDesign #ExhibitDesign

Alternative narratives and metamorphic creatures are just some of the themes addressed in the "Fabulation" exhibition which opened on Friday 13 October 2023 at the Ex Macelli in Prato and saw the works of Simone Cariota, Maria Gomez and Miguel Justicia (Potro negro) on display. The intent of the collective is to immerse visitors in an uncertain and fluctuating place, exploring the potential of a possible alternative narrative through the construction of a space that involves bodies in listening to sounds and observing images not systematized. https://lnkd.in/dEbGVC26

My last interview for Generazione. Many Thanks to #simonemastronardi, for the atypical and enveloping interview: among the most intriguing and extensive ever done before! We talked about the @gallerialanuvola, the contemporary market, the connection between digital and art, the performance and some authors in particular, historicized, like Christo, and contemporary, like @silvio.coiante, to whom I dedicated my latest exhibition.

What would arts attendance have been like in 2024 (and beyond) if the pandemic had not happened? The folks at IMPACTS Experience have some answers. Their recent report shows that market potential trends differ rather dramatically for certain kinds of organizations. The following exhibit-based organizations are projected to perform at or above market potential if the pandemic never happened: Aquariums, botanical gardens & arboretums, and zoos. In other words, these sectors have recovered not only to 2019 attendance, but to where they’d be if the pandemic didn’t take place at all. However, the pandemic and its outcomes continue to negatively impact children’s museums and science centers/museums. For performance-based groups, orchestras and others were already grappling with declining projected attendance before the pandemic as a result of difficulties engaging younger and more diverse audiences at a rapid enough rate to keep pace with demographics. Live theater was the only performing arts category that projected growth after 2019 if the pandemic did not occur. In all cases, the pandemic and its impacts have created difficulties in reestablishing 2019 market potential for all categories of performing arts organizations. The 2024 Annual Museums Survey report reveals the unprecedented value of volunteering to the museum sector, with more than a third of museums now operating entirely on volunteer power. However, smaller museums have seen a strong recovery in volunteer numbers, while multi-site organisations are still down 32% on pre-pandemic volunteer numbers. I love working with inspiring people. Working with brilliant people generates a real positive can-do energy. Esme is an inspiring person! This isn't the first edit of this video. The first edit used multiple camera angles, pulled in when Esme was making points and used many of the techniques you would tend to see in a TV news presentation. The reason TV is presented in this way is because it has to compete for its audience engagement. If you are mindful you will rarely see a shot of someone on TV uninterrupted for more than 10 seconds, often 5. The problem with all this cutting is, it can feel a little jostling, especially if the cameras used were of differing quality... more so if you are presenting to an audience who might suffer from conditions such as photosensitive epilepsy or visual stress. Lisa Alberti suggested a re-edit and reminded me of the idea of using an alternative version of subtitles. I think it works a lot better. Happy International Museums day. If you can, I always recommend taking a visit.

When designing exhibitions, why stop at inspiring visitors? Why not go all the way and generate a sense of AWE?! 'Museums, art galleries, and heritage sites are ideal environments to cultivate these moments of awe' according to Amelia Bloore, Head of Interpretation at Nissen Richards Studio, as she seeks to deepen our appreciation of the power of awe and investigate how to evoke it in this interesting new essay for A Museum For Now - https://lnkd.in/ekEZMH2u
