It's down to the sectoral composition of London’s economy, which has a larger share of economic activity in some higher growth sectors: professional, scientific and technical, and financial & insurance activities. 📅 With the start of a new financial year that's putting some extra money in Australia's pockets, how do you think this injection of capital will be spent amongst #GenY? 📉 Grappling with one of its worst economic climates in decades, exacerbated by a #housingcrisis and higher interest rates, particularly impacting younger generations, the Australian Government has introduced measures to assist. These include #taxcuts, #minimumwage increases, and #energyrelief credits. 💸 However, amidst these challenging conditions, there is a notable trend among #GenerationY to prioritise experiences, products, and services over traditional investments. Facing uncertain prospects of home ownership and retirement, many are opting to save for indulgent treats. In fact, according to #InsureandGo, 65% of 31-50-year-olds would choose travel over purchasing a home in 2024. 📝 To delve deeper into this behaviour, we consulted with Alison Pennington, Senior Economist at the University of Sydney, and Jonathan Barrett, Senior Business Reporter at Guardian Australia 🧑💼 Our discussions explored how businesses could cater more effectively towards affordable luxury, consider cross-demographic that include #GenY, and acknowledge the uncertainties shaping their consumption patterns. 📑 If you would like a copy of the report detailing our findings, please let me know, I would gladly send you the PDF.
