Day 11 of #16DaysofActivism - Many trans sex workers are also extremely vulnerable to violence, especially in areas where sex work is criminalised and unprotected by legislation and labour protections. Sex work is work; and trans people deserve to feel safe to earn a living, especially in areas where other kinds of work are inaccessible to trans folk. The discrimination and demonization of both trans people and sex work need to end. #NoExcuse #Transfeminism #GenderBasedViolence

Sex work is work!!! The sex work industry makes a significant albeit unrecognised contribution to the Gross Domestic Product of Uganda. Criminalising sex work is tantamount to discrimination on the basis of work, gender--a violation of Article 21 of the Ugandan Constitution. It is time to draw sex workers out of the shadows and do away with any laws such as the Sexual Offenses Bill 2024 which violate the constitution by creating room to infringe on the labour rights of sex workers. #RejectTheSexualOffenseBill2024 #Stop_SOB2024

On International #SexWorkersDay, let's stand together for the rights of sex workers!** When we criminalize sex work, we deny sex workers their basic human rights. Today, we echo the demands of sex workers worldwide to decriminalize sex work and to protect and fulfill their human rights. As the author of "Sex Work, Labour and Empowerment: Lessons from the Informal Entertainment Sector in Nepal," I have seen firsthand the resilience and strength of sex workers. It's time to recognize their rights and ensure they are treated with dignity and respect. Let's work together to create a world where sex workers are free from discrimination and violence. #HumanRights #DecriminalizeSexWork #SupportSexWorkers #Empowerment #Equality

The new Bill implements the findings from our review into the decriminalisation of the sex work industry, which focussed on a recommended framework for regulating sex work. We are proud to have played a key role in reforming these laws.
