🧠🪖 The United States Department of Defense has awarded Sense Neuro Diagnostics $2 million to support the clinical trial of a traumatic brain injury detection capability for front line care. Called “NeuroHawk,” the headgear scans specific regions of the brain for hemorrhaging, enabling quick diagnosis of the condition that has affected more than 420,000 warfighters in the past 20 years. “We are honored to receive this contract … as it recognizes the potential of our technology to address a significant unmet need for both military personnel and civilian patients,” Sense Neuro Diagnostics CEO Geoffrey Klass said. “The NeuroHawk is designed for use in field conditions, allowing for rapid detection and monitoring of brain injuries. With this support, we are poised to advance the development and deployment of life-saving technology.” #military #army #defense #defence #defenseindustry #defenceindustry #defensetech #defencetech #militarytech #technology #innovation #brain #braininjury #traumaticbraininjury #tbi #frontlinecare

🧠 The US Army has unveiled a new blood testing device capable of detecting traumatic brain injuries within 15 minutes. Called the i-STAT TBI, the device can rapidly spot biomarkers that signal brain damage and helps determine whether a patient needs to undergo a follow-on CT scan. Its modular design allows it to be used at the bedside of soldiers suspected of concussion without impeding its ability to produce “lab quality results” faster than other blood testing devices. “This can help get the most severely injured service members to neurosurgeons faster and ultimately save lives,” US Army neurosurgical consultant Lt. Col. Bradley Dengler said. #military #techology #militarytechnology #militarytech #innovation #defense #defence #defenseindustry #defenceindustry #usarmy #braininjury #traumaticbraininjury #tbi #health #healthcare

"Boots on the ground" is a military term for #soldiers or #military personnel who are physically present and actively engaged in a particular area or conflict zone. It emphasizes the importance of physical presence in a situation, especially in contrast to remote or military operations. By the end of June 11th, 1944 (D+5), over 326,000 "boots were on the ground", on the beaches and from the air, along with over 54,000 vehicles and 104,000 tons of supplies. The phrase can also be used more broadly to refer to personnel working on the ground in a particular area, such as #police, #aidworkers, or other #firstresponders. It emphasizes the importance of having people present to assess and address a situation. #Military: "We need more boots on the ground to effectively combat the insurgency." #Humanitarian Aid: "The organization is sending boots on the ground to assess the needs of the displaced population." #Business: "The company is establishing a new office in the region to have boots on the ground and better understand the local market." Ventus Respiratory Technologies is built by a team that has been the "boots on the ground." We #honour the #courage and #memory of all those who have been and will be the boots on the ground, from D-Day and into the future. #DDay80 #respiratoryprotection #specialoperations #veteranrunbusiness Burn Pits 360 Clint Mayhue Jason Davis Meg Davis Ani Tourian Sandra Stickel Thomas Kehoe, Jr. Arjun Grewal Glenn Cowan

I love where you are coming from but maybe it’s time that, as an industry we change the narrative. We know that we cannot PREVENT injuries. We know that cannot PREVENT suicides. If we could, we would have done so already. What we can do, is optimise the workplace and work practices to give people, and the organisation, the best chance for success. To give people, and their leaders permission to look after themselves. Many of the data for this will be subjective rather than objective as for 16 hrs of every day, people are somewhere other than the workplace but that’s ok. Unfortunately we operate where we can invest millions of dollars and hours of effort, and the results just don’t appear. Likewise, we can do nothing at all and nobody gets injured meaning, in the eyes of those who make funding or workflow decisions, a waste of money and resources. I don’t know the answer and I’m likely very wrong here but maybe we just need to try to attack this problem differently and words matter. I’m lucky atm to be supporting a leader in the Royal Australian Air Force who is committed to doing just that. To improving the workplace, supporting his people to look after themselves, and delivering capabilities that put people at the core of our thinking, planning and daily workflow. We are only in the infancy of our approach but we are committed to trying something different and doing our best to make the change. We know our efforts will make a difference, we just don’t know what that difference will look like yet. I’m excited to see what we can do.
Human Performance Optimization Advocate | Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Professional | Injury Prevention Specialist | Sergeant Major (Retired) USMCR
I recently interacted with a #linkedin post about the continued challenges that our military faces because human performance efforts continue to be driven by personal opinions. To make matters worse, this is enabled by the lack of available valid & reliable #research in the military population, leading to little data to support evidence based practices, particularly for injury. So I did some digging and sure enough, despite the acknowledgment of high injury rates in the military, comprehensive studies are lacking. Existing data often suffers from inconsistencies, limited sample sizes, and varying definitions of injury. Research on military injuries requires dedicated funding, which is often scarce compared to other DOD priorities Operational constraints limit opportunities for comprehensive studies Accessing medical records and injury data may raise privacy issues for service members What does the way forward look like without empirical data to help enhance injury prevention and refine current best practices to allow for better human performance? Without accurate and standardized #data, it's challenging to identify trends, risk factors, and effective interventions …..and so the cycle of opinion-based prioritization continues. FOOT STOMP….I could argue all day on how injury prevention strategies can improve readiness. (change my mind) Addressing the gap is crucial for improving the well being, longevity, and effectiveness of our armed forces. Our service members deserve the commitment to these actions! 📸: Shout out to all embedded assets, enablers of injury prevention in the military #mentalhealth #physicaltherapy #athletictrainers #functionalfitness #functionaltraining #physicalactivity #humanperformance #h2f #holistichealthandfitness #military #marines #marinecorps #semperfi #semperfidelis #army #navy #airforce #coastguard #spaceforce #health #wellness #fitness #woundedwarriors #military #veterans #advocate #advocateforchange #strengthandconditioning

Did you know that, according to Women Veterans Health Care, female veterans may have increased risk factors for heart disease? PTSD and other trauma-related experiences obtained during military service may be underlying causes. Fortunately, the VA provides a wide range of services to help women's heart health. Veterans can establish a heart health plan by speaking with their VA clinician. MINDSET & MENTAL HEALTH. As another week begins for our team, we understand and truly appreciate the importance of our men and women in the armed forces possessing a positive mindset in a very fast changing environment. A positive mindset enhances resilience, enabling soldiers to cope better with the stresses and challenges of ongoing missions. This resilience is vital for maintaining operational readiness and effectiveness, particularly in high-stress combat situations. A positive outlook fosters stronger camaraderie and teamwork, essential for cohesive unit performance. Mental well-being reduces the risk of long-term psychological issues such as PTSD, which can have severe impacts on both personal and professional lives. By promoting mental health, military organisations can ensure that their personnel remain effective, adaptable, and capable of fulfilling their duties. Ultimately, a positive mindset is integral to the overall mission success and long-term sustainability of our military.
