Dear Mr. President, Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa I write to you as a concerned citizen & a deeply troubled parent, devastated by the ongoing tragedy of our children dying from illegally produced, hazardous products. Your recent letter to the nation was cold & detached, offering little solace to grieving families who have lost their beloved children to this preventable crisis. When those in power respond to such a grave issue with indifference, it becomes a profound failure, while children continue to suffer & die in our communities. This crisis disproportionately affects the black poor, the least protected & most vulnerable. These families live in fear—not only of the dangers from these illegal products but of a government that seems unwilling to take decisive action on their behalf. The silence on illegal immigration & unregulated goods is deafening. How can we allow this to continue when the very lives of our children are at stake? Bold action is needed... the South African National Defence Force must be called upon to assist in shutting down illegal manufacturing plants, recall these deadly goods, & arrest those responsible. Furthermore, we need a national call to action, urging all #SACitizens to bring these dangerous products to designated collection points for destruction. We can't sit idly while our children’s lives are treated as collateral damage in a broken system. This isn't merely a policy issue but a moral one. The lack of empathy in your response is unacceptable. As the President, you should feel the weight of these lost lives & act with urgency & compassion. Our children deserve better, as do the families who grieve their loss. Mr. President, I implore you to understand the gravity of this situation & to act decisively to protect our children. #HumanRightsWatch South African Human Rights Commission The Presidency of the Republic of South Africa Parliament of the Republic of South Africa

What does it say about us when we fail to protect our most vulnerable? Today, on #World #Children’s #Day, we face a harsh reality: millions of children worldwide are denied their fundamental rights. ↳1 in 6 children lives in a conflict zone. ↳150 million children under 5 are affected by stunting. ↳160 million children are trapped in child labor. These aren’t just numbers. These are stories of suffering that reflect a profound disconnection from our shared humanity. What's in our power: ↳Advocate for policies protecting children, ↳Support initiatives for education, healthcare, and safety, ↳And reconnect with the humanity that binds us all. Children's rights are human rights. When we protect children, we protect our future. ♻️ Repost to raise awareness and inspire action. #Worldchildrenday

Today 12 April, we come together to celebrate the International Day for Street Children, recognizing the resilience and strength of millions of street-connected children globally. These children, like all others, have rights that are protected under The Child Rights Convention, a widely ratified and supported international agreement. Additionally, the United Nations' General Comment (No.21) on Children in Street Situations specifically acknowledges the rights of these vulnerable children. As we commemorate this important day, it is essential to highlight the pressing needs of street children, including their mental health wellness, access to food, shelter, and education. These fundamental aspects significantly impact their well-being and future opportunities. At SESA, we are committed to establishing a support system to provide basic needs, especially food for street children across the country. We invite partnerships and collaborations with companies and organizations to join us in this crucial initiative to ensure that street children have access to nutritious food to sustain their lives. Together we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these marginalized children and work towards improving their overall well-being and prospects for a better future. 🌟 It’s #WorldChildrensDay: A Call for Businesses to Act Responsibly 🌟 Children’s Day is a reminder of the joy, potential, and rights of every child. But did you know the way businesses operate impacts children in profound ways? From 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 and 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 to 𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 and 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, nearly 𝟭 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 worldwide are directly or indirectly affected by global business decisions. According to #UNICEF here are some startling realities: 𝟭𝟲𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 were subjected to child labor as of 2020, and the risk has increased post-COVID-19. Over 𝟴𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 lack adequate maternity protections. 𝟮 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 live in areas with air pollution levels above WHO standards. Often, these impacts on children are overlooked—even when businesses focus on responsible practices for adults. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Children’s rights are not just a social issue—they’re a 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲. Policies that exclude children’s perspectives—like setting pollution standards for adults but not accounting for children’s vulnerability—can have devastating, unintended consequences. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱: Leading businesses are starting to take action by: ✅ Assessing their supply chains and labor practices to reduce adverse impacts. ✅ Designing products and policies with children’s health, safety, and well-being in mind. ✅ Advocating for systems that support working parents, like maternity protections and fair wages. As businesses, investors, governments, and communities, we have a shared responsibility to ensure our actions today shape a better future for every child. This Children’s Day, let’s commit to bringing 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 into the conversation and into our business decisions. Together, we can turn challenges into opportunities for positive change. 🌍💙 (UNICEF) #WorldChildrensDay #ListentotheFuture #Childrights #SocialEntrepreneur #BusinessResponsibility #AntElement
