NORAD TRACKS SANTA
The North America Aerospace Defence Command is a USA and Canada bi-national organization charged with protecting the skies of our continent. On Christmas Eve, it will track Santa Claus and his reindeers.
One can only imagine the NORAD Intelligence Officer’s briefing on Christmas Eve:
“Good evening, everyone. It is that time of the year again. My briefing will cover what we know about our yearly Christmas Eve intruder.
“Using the Call Sign “SANTA”, the visitor is a highly-capable pilot who flies an ultra fast aircraft. He is also a very quick and stealthy home intruder. Information from open sources indicates that he wears a red suit since the 1930s.
“At the extreme speed he travels, we suspect that his red outfit is a highly advanced G Suit to keep him warm and prevent him from loosing consciousness in flight. We also assume that his bushy white beard contains a disguised breathing apparatus required for open-cockpit high-speed flying. Instead of a helmet, he seems to be content with eyeglasses and a red tuque with a white pom-pom.
“From past interceptions, we understand that he flies what looks like a snow sleigh. Its propulsion system is based on nine unique reindeers who have mastered the art of flight.
“Do not get fooled by the low aerodynamics of this flying contraption. A Northern Arizona University study estimates that it can fly at over 1040 kilometers per SECOND. This is 3000 times the speed of sound.
“An important note that SANTA will slowdown when entering and re-entering the North American airspace, as a courtesy, to allow NORAD fighters to intercept and identify him and his aircraft. He is considered a non-threat and will make a friendly wave to our pilots before resuming his journey.
“His sleigh is best described as a versatile, all-weather, vertical and short take-off and landing vehicle, with infinite cargo space. The university study calculated that, at a minimum, the sleigh must carry 353 000 tons of gifts. The capability of lifting and flying with such weigh is an engineering marvel.
“The reindeer flying at the head of the sleight has a shiny red nose and called the Rudolph navigation system. It is a very effective when you consider how fast the sleigh is flying and the unbelievably frequent pinpoint delivery stops SANTA does during Christmas night.
“There are no recorded misdeeds by the intruder during his home visits. Children seem to be pleased with the gifts left behind. However, reports indicate that any cookies and milk left on a table will disappear. This may help explain why SANTA is described as overweight.
“Many youngsters and their parents understand that NORAD is tracking SANTA. Duty Officers should expect calls to the NORAD Tracks Santa Hotline (1-877-446-6723) from across the globe. The Website NORADSanta.org helps keep all informed of SANTA’s progress.
“Merry Christmas everyone”
