In this #policybrief, we discuss challenges on the #energymarket caused by external and internal factors such as the price of fossil resources influenced by current military conflicts as well as a yet low level of #digitalization in some European countries. We propose to combat these challenges by reforming the energy market to a more decentralized market where individual market participants that can be consumers and producers of #energy at the same time (the so-called prosumers) can influence and shape innovation in the energy sphere. Moreover, we give a brief future outlook on how such an #energymarketmodel may look like and on which financial and regulatory instruments the policy makers should focus.
