This week, I’ve had a bunch of candidate calls for an open role, and while most were pretty smooth, I hit a bit of a snag during one call that left me feeling a little awkward. Here’s the scoop: I spoke with a candidate who seemed really disinterested in answering some of the questions I thought were important. Instead, he wanted to jump straight to the details of the role. I was doing my usual thing—starting with experience-related questions, talking about his projects, and trying to assess his personality and what team culture fits him best. But nope, he felt those questions were pointless! 😅 After realizing our conversation was going nowhere, I switched gears and just gave him a quick overview of the role along with a follow-up email. This week, I received a heartfelt thank you card from our newest team members, Lucy C. 💌, and it reminded me why I love what I do! Over the past few weeks, I had the pleasure of guiding Lucy, one of Tundra Technical Solutions' newest hires, through the recruitment process for a key role in our Chicago team! 🌆 Lucy's enthusiasm and experience made her a standout candidate, and I was thrilled to see her excitement grow with each step. Navigating the hiring process can be daunting for candidates and recruiters alike. With the added complexity of remote interviews and virtual interactions, ensuring a seamless and positive experience requires extra effort and careful planning. For Lucy, who will be joining us shortly, making her feel welcomed and valued from the very start was my top priority.
