Congratulations! Welcoming Week is a beautiful concept. Having experienced the welcome first hand myself, I only have fond memories of the ceremony almost 20 years ago 🤩. Canadian citizenship is worth celebrating for! In Finland, my spouse only received weekly messages urging to wait patiently for the decision of becoming a Finn. After two years of waiting, there was an e-mail letting you know you're in. That was it 🥴. Not much of a celebration. So hats off to Canada for making an effort and celebrating its new Citizens!

My dream of being in that room to raise my hand to pledge is becoming increasingly elusive.

In person ceremonies should be the default event. No matter who you are, no matter where you came from, no matter how you worship, no matter who you love ... You are Canadian! Bien Venue le grande famille canadienne!
