𝗜 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗧𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲 

As the year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting. My final days in Canada were unfortunately tainted, and after arriving back home, I quickly began to miss the food—maybe even friends, a little. I thought very consciously about how I can achieve goals, and later stumbled upon an interesting company started by a connection—now friend. Fast forward, and I’ve been part of the Polymuse team for a bit now! I've learned a lot from Shubhra Sarker, and we work extremely well together. Being part of a startup has been a blast, so thank you! It’s given me insight into my strengths, weaknesses and taught me how to apply my business skills directly to development. For example, I think I over-engineer less where appropriate, and make very conscious customer/business oriented decisions. Web development reminds me of past experiences yet I was unable to define parallels in such a concise way until now. Outside of Polymuse, I’ve worked on a large e-commerce project. One of my biggest wins with that has been in refactoring pages to be significantly more performant. Earlier this year, I also decided to pursue a computer science degree, and I've been toying around with open source. The latter, I highly recommend for networking purposes and to expose yourself to bigger projects. It makes transitioning into work easier, because you'll see code that's not your own. Looking back, there are a few things I’d do differently if I were to graduate from a bootcamp today. One tip I'd give my past self would be to write a pretend resume with foreseeable goals on there, so I could see, on paper, what looked attractive to an employer. And I'd speak to former students more, to see what worked for them. Consequently, I run a small community (95 of us so far), with the goal of making a platform suitable for people to help each other and network. A bot is also in development which will display job ads in there. An MVP will hopefully be done "soon". If you want to crack the system, you have to understand the system. Coming from a non-tech domain, shifting to a tech field felt like climbing a steep hill. When I started learning web development, it was tough—no doubt about that—but I genuinely enjoyed it. The challenges were real, but so was my curiosity. The more I explored, the more I realized that enjoying the process made all the difference. Finally! My first full-stack web application. The journey to this outcome was daunting 😅 but in the end through perseverance, the goal was achieved 😀 . It is a review website for campsites. The main features are login, sign-up and integration of Mapbox API. Full CRUD functionalities were implemented as well (Create, Edit, Update, Delete) for campgrounds as well as comments, and reviews. Authentication and authorization were also implemented. The basic foundation of the app was leveraged from a capstone project. Technologies Used: Front-End: HTML, CSS, JavaScript ES6+ and Bootstrap.
